Is there a thread of songs other artists have done covering original Prince recordings?

Emancipation89 suggested the external site: http://www.whosampled.com...rs/Prince/ and there's just searching for covers on YouTube of course, but figuring this was prince.org, perhaps there was a resource here already

Do you mean covers, as in:

1. songs written by others that Prince has recorded and released?

2. songs written by others that Prince has recorded but not released?

3. songs written by others that Prince has performed?

4. songs written by Prince that have been recorded and released by others?

5. songs written by Prince that have been performed by others?

6. the artwork of musical recordings released by Prince?

Hell, I thought this was about MAGAZINE covers with Prince.

Not difficult at all - with clarification. People frequently ask for COVERS and it's a damned thread about magazine covers. If someone asks about Prince covers, frequently they're talking about songs HE wrote but OTHERS performed. YOUR version of cover is actually the LEAST requested. I'm glad it was really easy for YOU to figure out, though. Even with your inside info on the subject you started it's quite impressive. [Play nice snip - luv4u]

Reading this thread, it's obvious to me how the org (and the internet forums in general) isn't frequently a nice place. Everything becomes a fight.

Seeing as you're new you should probably know this:

langebleu is the closest thing to a Prince encyclopaedia there is, and he doesn't ask stupid questions. I would bet all the money you have that the reason he asked you for clarification was in order to supply you with the most relevant information he has.

Perhaps give it some thought before assuming that everyone is out to deliberately annoy you.

The two links you've looked at are pretty comprehensive to be honest.

prince is so idiosyncratic that when another artist covers are true to his original recording they often come off as insincere. i love sharon jones version of take me with u as she funks it up bigtime.

I wonder has anyone here ever covered a Prince song?
