SWANG, what an awesome list! I love Prince's drumming, and I'm going to check these tracks out again.

But how are you SURE Prince drummed on Irresistible Bitch and Tricky? If Morris drummed on Clorene, why not the other two?

If you know Prince's drumming, you know it's him. Especially 'Irresistable'. Listen to the high-hat fills.

You're correct about 'Last Heart', although he plays "Trigger Traps" live to track. Technically not an acoustic kit, but played live nonetheless

The first Madhouse album,God(inst.),Another Lonely Christmas,I think he played on If A Girl Answers.

i thought GOD (inst) was a live studio joint by Revolution.
i thought it was Bobby Z on those drums.
same 4 Another Lonely Christmas

God(instr.) sounds like Prince's drumming. (In fact, it sounds like Prince on everything.)

Another Lonely Xmas is definitely Prince drumming.

Who played drums on

"Power Fantastic"
and
"4 The Tears In Your Eyes" [both original and acoustic vs]?

'Power Fantastic' was recorded live to tape by Prince & the Revolution, so it's probably Bobby Z.

'4 the Tears in Your Eyes' original could be Bobby or Prince or neither. The drum track isn't really substantial enough to say.

The acoustic version contains no drums.

I may need to go into rehab after this thread. Bubba, you DON'T know what you started!!!

Here we go again!!!

The Time: The Time - I believe Prince plays drums on 'Get It Up', 'Girl', and 'Cool'. I'm positive he plays on 'Oh, Baby' as this was recorded in 1979 during sessions for the Prince album but left incomplete until The Time sessions. Dez Dickerson is probably the drummer on 'After High School' which he co-wrote, and as I previously stated, I'm almost positive that Morris played on 'The Stick'.

The Time: What Time is It? - I believe that Prince played drums on 'Gigolos Get Lonely Too', but I'm nowhere near being positive about that. I believe the remainder of the acoustics on the album ('Wild & Loose' and 'The Walk') contain the drum work of Morris Day. Again, I'm speculating here, but I'm a bit of a drummer myself as well as a "student of Minneapolis drummers". smile For the record, that is a Linn drum program on '777-9311', not an acoustic kit, although the high-hat and claps might have been triggered live. And yes, Prince drums on 'Tricky'.

The Time: Ice Cream Castles - Someone asked what did Jellybean play on, and one thing we know for sure he did drum on is the live version of 'The Bird' on this album. In fact, it is my belief that Prince did not drum on any of this album's songs. If he did, he's a better master of disguise than Dana Carvey lol, cuz it just don't sound like him. Jellybean might have worked on all the live drums on this one (the title track, 'My Drawers', 'If the Kid Can't Make You Come').

Vanity 6: Vanity 6 - Some here may disagree (I'm okay with that smile), but I don't think Prince played drums on any of these. Certainly, the programming (Linn) stuff is his work, and the programming on 'Nasty Girl' alone is masterful. However, as to the live drumming, I think that 'He's So Dull' and '3 x 2 = 6' are Dez (the latter might be Prince), and I also believe 'If a Girl Answers' is Morris Day.

Appolonia 6: Appolonia 6 - 'Some Kinda Lover' is probably Prince. The spectacular drumming on 'A Million Miles' is Sheila E. (probably smile)

***For the record, the only Sheila E. recording I believe Prince plays drums on is 'Holly Rock'. The programming on her projects is undeniably the work of Prince (possibly with contributions from her). The exceptions to that are songs with which Prince had no direct involvement ('Wednesday Like a River', 'Hold Me', 'Faded Photographs', 'Hon E Man', and 'Soul Salsa').***

The Family: The Family - Prince plays acoustic drums on 'High Fashion', 'Mutiny', 'Yes', 'Susannah's Pajamas', and 'Desire' although for the released version of 'Desire' Prince's entire performance was left out of the mix barring the kick drum. 'Susannah's Pajamas' is noteworthy for being one of Prince's most unique acoustic drum tracks.

Madhouse: 8 - Prince plays drums on all tracks. Contains Prince's greatest drumming performances.

Madhouse: 16 - Prince plays acoustic drums on all but 3 tracks, and I know you guys are gonna kill me, but I'm not sure which ones. Unfortunately, I don't have DMSR in front of me, and I haven't listened to the album in a long time. Maybe someone else here could look it up for me. I am certain of two things though: Prince plays on all but 3 songs, and those 3 are played by Sheila E.. Sorry sad

Eric Leeds: Times Squared - Prince plays acoustic drums on 'Cape Horn', and 'Kenya'.

*Prince plays drums on 'Splash' from NPGMC year one.

Have I missed anything???
