Songs that sound better at a higher or lower tempo Any ideas of Prince songs that sound better (or different/interesting) at higher or lower tempos? I'd love to experiment! The folks from Brooklyn play da bass pretty good but the ones from Minneappolis play it like they OUGHTA SHOULD!

Off the top of my head:
Love or $ Jungle Love (Not a "Prince song" but still..........)

well he wrote jungle love so it can kind of be classifed as...

Definitely try "(There'll Never B) Another Like Me". I wish he had used the "Camille" vocals on that one, because it sounds a lot better that way.

on a similar note:
I used to enjoy playing Love Or $ from the 45rpm Kiss 7" at 33rpm... sounded cool. Also, from my vinyl Charade boot (33rpm) I liked playing All My Dreams at 45rpm, especially right when Prince says in the lyrics to play it double-speed.... the slowed down part is really cool sped back up.
Yeah, I know, this isn't the same as what you're talking about. Couldn't help it... Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Feel u up would be a whole new workable track slowed down if it had a real funky, heavy beat

I actually think Love Or $ sounds BETTER on 33rpm. Don't hate me 'cause I'm NOT beautiful

What a strange and pointless thing to want to do. I know some people feel starved of new Prince material but you can't be this bored surely.

Prince did a slowed-down version of Controversy at the recent Melkweg Night 2 gig. That was pretty cool. All that bathing in purple rain just can't be good for your health...

That slowed down, bluesy version of I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man is badass! The one he did at The 2001 Celebration. "Climb in my fur."

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it seemed like the tempo of "Ol' Skool Company" was faster when Prince performed it live on Leno. If I'm right, then I like the faster tempo of that particular song compared to the cd version. "little Red Corvette" will always be a sentimental classic in it's original form, but the slowed down version he started, iirc, in Montreux is pure bliss.

I always liked to pitch up these tracks by 5 to 10% "Hello" "Shockadelica" "Space" & "America" "Hello" would be my Fav to do this with.

I'm not a fan of his frenetic, fast paced live version of Alphabet St. I greatly prefer the studio tempo. Also, I've heard different versions of Something in the Water done slower live that are pretty cool, especially the solo piano version he does occasionally.
