After proteges release a great album....

I sense an incredible new prince album on the horizon soon. Condensate presents Prince's darker side in his alter ego, Morris Day; that album is all about "pimps and [not very multifaceted women who like sex -- "unfaithful" relationships, material things and little else]". I reckon Prince will follow with follow w/ some real "love songs" and even more danceable tracks (though it's difficult to imagine music more danceable than what's on Condensate.

Dec. 2008

White Flags of Winter Chimneys is a 2008 album by Wendy & Lisa. It is their fifth studio album and was released on December 9, 2008.

March 2009

Lotusflow3r (stylized as LOtUSFLOW3R) is the twenty-sixth studio album by American musician Prince, released March 24, 2009 on NPG Records.

I'm sure there's a pattern here if we went back to other protege releases followed by exceptional Prince albums. They always seem to work in tandem.

I respectfully fail to see how ONE example can become a "pattern", that and the fact that the release of Lotusflow3r had been planned long before W&L's album was released.

Besides, all of Prince's ex protégés and band members have released a LOT of records over the years, and Prince usually releases at least one album a year, so we could play this pattern game as far back as the mid eighties, but what's the point?

I think u need a drink wink

Peace.

To be more specific, I'm sure we can manage to dig out at least ONE (and often several) ex-protégé/bandmember album being released for every year or so since André released his first in 1982, so none of this makes sense, unless of course u think that the ONLY reason Prince has been recording and releasing new music every year or so for the last 30 years was to keep up with his ex collaborators confused

Prince had not one single thing to do with Condensate. It doesn't represent jack shit in terms of Prince's alter egos. Morris is not/was not "darker" than Prince. Morris was goofy and fun and if the movie Purple Rain was to be taken as part of the character's myth-making he was not to be taken seriously. He was the opposite of his onstage persona. He was poor, lived in a small apartment and most certainly did NOT have an Italian chef named Gino-anything. Morris and Jerome will always be comic relief.

We over analyze shit here way too much. Turn off the computer, step outside, and smell the roses.

Oh wait. Don't.

Then you might think a protege smelled a flower before Prince so a couple months later Prince smelled a better flower than his protege when it actually smelled like a taco bell fart.
