If Prince was to release an all-funk album...

...would you prefer an organic or electronic production?

I would love a mostly electronic updated Minneapolis Funk sound with loads of funky rhythm guitar added. And Prince: don't forget the old school synth stabs!!!
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

No no no no no no no no no no!

No synth stabs pleeease!

It's 2003. We had acoustic jazz, we had electronic jazz-funk. It was pioneering and fresh. We had Prince in the 80s, and I loved the sounds. But now is the time for good ol' fashioned funk music played by damn good musicians.

I want this band to play some funk music and leave the electronics alone.

Well, to be honest, I don't give a shit if it's going to be organic or electronic, just as long as it's all-funk! music

I found the old funk funky. I have a soft spot for the electronic funk, but I just think it's hard to do it now without it sounding dated. It's of its time.

But then, I guess the new, more organic sound is also derivative of old funk so isn't really looking forward.

Perhaps a combination of the two?

Just as long as it's so loud it'll give you a mach 7 face.

Guitar and steal bass, dirty low dragging funk with his
deep voice all over it.

Blackwell on the drums, but with the added pound of the
drum machine in some parts. Just as long as Prince does
the programming, it should be ok.

sans religion, if possible.

Some sonics scattered throughout, a touch of Renato's
bleeps here and there, or a sampled orgasm.

Just put "Billy Jack Bitch", "Moviestar", "All The Critics"
and "Cloreen" in a big pot and add some chicken to it, let
it simmer and stir with a blue angel or a one eyed bass.

Serve nice and warm and sip it from an under-aged belly
dancer's navel.

Something like that.

I think it would B great if he updated his
early 80´s sound with the linn & funky synths.

If he was going to really make this album I would love to see him collaborate with others on this.

I'd like to hear the MPLS Sound updated with real instruments.I've often wondered what something like 'Let's Pretend We're Married' would sound like with real instruments.

A "real" instrument, funk based album would be oh so nice nod With the band he has now, he could really move a crowd on all fronts. For those who dare to dream that this would come about, dream on...it would be blastin' to hear though.

I'd like to see him collaborate with artists who he is an influence to (i.e. Beck, D'Angelo, ?uestlove, Erykah Badu) And when I say collaborate I mean co-production. The super collaborations on Rave were f*cked up by Prince's overproduction.

Yeah, that's a great idea too! Throw in Me'Shell and The Neptunes as well, if you ask me...

Exactly! I cringe when I think about how stellar EMALE could have been with Me'Shell's actual contributions. It's just a shame that Prince can't get into the studio with a "we-go" attitude instead of the ego attitude.

I'm afraid you're right, it seems almost impossible for Prince to do a real collaboration... sad

A bit of each. Whatever.

I'd be elated to just to see him do a project like that, but it seems doubtful at this point.
