I feel like this song ushered in the Prince we loved from the past back into the modern era. It got rid of that sound of the mid 90's that was nothing but anger and filler. 3121 is a classic Prince album that was and is a return to form. Te Amo Corazon is a great song. __________________________________________________

I was just about to say the opposite....it's exhibit A of what went wrong - its all fur coat and no knickers. Don't be fooled by the 'classy' title and the washboard and thimble TE - molecular biology buffer solution AMO - acronym for an oceanic variation in temperature causing rise and falls in oceans CORTISONE - Hormone released at times of stress = that's song makes all living things stressed and causes oceans to rise....it's THAT bad!!! Generic latin beat. Lifeless song on an awful album!

I agree with some of what you say as I also dont think 3121 is 'classic Prince' but I think like most of his albums it can go from the sublime to the ridiculous. I never listen to 'Incense and Candles' or 'Get On The Boat' but I think 'Te Amo', 'The Word' and 'Love' are good tracks. Out of interest is there any songs you like off the last few albums?

I don't consider myself a "whiny bitch" but it is certainly not one of my favourites. Not even one of his best ballads in my opinion.
I wasn't a huge fan of the era (growing up in the Parade time), the only reference to 3121 which brings back great memories were all of those unbelievable aftershow parties at the Indigo (with the 3121 backdrop!) No child is bad from the beginning. They only imitate their atmosphere.

I like most of 3121 ...Te Amo is probably the only song I don't like on there - Lolita took a while to like but I think that's the connotation behind it made me uncomfortable. Like a few of the 'standard' Prince songs off Lotsflower (Crimson&Clover, Old Skool, $, Feel Good etc), Sticky Like Glue is great of 20ten. I think it's just, whereas I used to lap everything up in my younger Prince days, I'm a bit more selective now...anything where Prince claims he's great, anything where preaching takes priority over the music, anything with that croaky falsetto, anything with play school rhymes or anything that's bullshit switches me off straight away now.

3121 may be debatable to be not a 'classic" PRINCE album
but HELL if that had been dropped by ANY OTHER artist it would be deemed amazing
BLACK SWEAT? released by ns or somebody? grammy
FURY?
TE AMO?
LOVE?
THE WORD?
its worth occasionally stepping back and imigining if somebody else had released what the reaction woud be
and for my $ the title track is still one of THE funkiest jams i have EVER heard
period
this is the album that floored me..coming from a dude in his 50's approaching thirty years in the business but still had the hunger and passion to drop shit like black sweat????

I thought it was Te Amo Cortizone.

People are not always gonna respond to music the same its true, but I really loved the album and played it until I wore out the CD. I bought 2 more just in case. What I loved the most though was how the music inspired Prince to do so many other things such as Vegas, LA, and those private parties.

I thought it was boring the first time I heard it. Once I heard it live at the Brit Awards I started liking it more. Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

And just where do you get off calling people who don't like the song "whiny bitches"? It's just gonna get people's backs up and make them think you're a cun*
I thought music could bring people together but with people like this poster it just drives them further apart. Intolerance is a sign of stupidy as is ignorance.

I agree. The video is beautiful, it is very nostalgic in many ways 4 me.

At the minute, I'm having to re-put all my CDs onto my ipod as the last update wiped everything off. Oddly 3121 was the first Prince album I decided to put on.
Hmm, maybe there's something about the album then?

I mostly listen to it in the morning, it's in my 'Break of Dawn' playlist.

Mediterranean does NOT equal latin.
The title is Spanish, the music is an attempt at Bossa Nova and the video was shot in Marrakesh.
Spanish = Spanish = Latin Language
Bossa Nova = Portuguese = Latin Music
Marrakesh = Arabic = Mediterranean Area
Therefore the VIDEO is the only thing mediterranean about the whole affair. That's what I'm saying.

Surely Spanish = Mediterranean? (I am Spanish, born and raised 5 minutes away from the Mediterranean) Plus Bossa Nova = Brasilian...
