Happy 20th Anniversary 2 Diamonds and Pearls

1st of all I want 2 say Happy 20th 2 a CD/Album that was truly a masterpiece of work commercially/ musically from Prince and it was 1 of his truly last Gr8 releases in the 90's and the Gold cd my opinion. "Diamonds and Pearls" was so enjoyable loved most of the cuts of course the commercial joints from the Hip Hop flavored "Gett Off" 23 positions and a 1 night stand so nasstee and the beat was hella tight.

"Cream" was a mid tempo groove and the name says it all it was smooth like cream and with the added vocals by Rosie Gaines made it all the more jammin.

"Diamonds and Pearls" the title track was just so on point from the intro 2 the end, again with Rosie Gaines doing background and some co lead made it 1 gem of a jam . Prince showed that he can still put out pop songs like it was nothing.

"Money Don't matter" 2night was another 1 that got political in some of the song . "So what if we r stealing oops I meant "controlling" Lol all the oil is it worth a child dying 4" ? A real deep song if u really peep it out .

Prince could have left some of that BS off this CD Jughead,Thunder, stroll'n just 2 name a few and

the raps from the NPG I know Prince was trying 2 accept Hip Hop music but damn not with those no rapping, background dancers. It was better when Prince was rapping ...I think Lol

Insatiable is still 1 of the sexxxy...est slow jams ever not since Adore was there a slow jam from Prince that showed all that erotic passion and the Video 4 it was off the chain.

as 4 the marketing it was on point. I remember it came out in Oct 1991 (my BDay month) and I saw the Hologram pic of Prince and D&P 2 fine ass twins that were with Prince during that time frame. He promoted it and was on the cover of Spin, per4mored on Arsenio Hall YouTube it he had the no ass Pants not a good look 4 any other guy but 4 Prince I guess it was ok. Prince also played MTV music awards at that time 2, he was doing it Big . I have 2 say Prince had an amazing cd with D&P tho they were no Revolution which I still miss, at that time they seemed like a pretty good band 4 Prince. In closing I want 2 say again Happy 20th Anniversary 2 Diamonds and Pearls an amazing song, video, and overall cd. $ir Nasstee 2011 Hand Cuff Happiness and Whipped Cream Wishes.

Wow 20 years for 'Diamonds & Pearls'. It would've been cool if Warner Brothers released expanded 'Anniversary Editions' of EVERY Prince album/CD...complete with B-sides, improved liner notes & bonus tracks recorded during each of the sessions.

My thoughts too.

I was lucky enough to attend three D&P gigs, they were my first Prince gigs, and I have never witnessed a bigger or more extravagant show by anyone since, including Prince.

This was the first CD I bought of Prince (I was 10 or so at the time). Though Prince has made a lot of better cd's, it still was my first introduction to him and made me curious for more. I become a full fan through the symbol album. I still like Thunder, Willing and Able (also the jazzed up version), Gett Off. The Guitar work on Live4Love is insane. Loved that track too.

D&P was the one that cemented me into Pronce fandom, so got a lot of love for the album. Remove Tony M and it still holds up well for me wink

Like the album but HATE Thunder. The most overproduced track he's ever done IMO.

I was barely a teenager when I got my paws on a copy of D&P and it blew my tiny mind.

I was yet to discover all that lay before it, so it was still the bees knees as far as I was concerned and, along with prince and then TBA a couple of years later, was pretty much the proverbial soundtrack to my adolescent life.

Tony's M best rap on the album is on Willing and Able, imho.

That's got to be the best rap of his career. Mellow, smooth, taking it his time ... basically unlike his spastic rapping on stuff like Jughead and The Flow (I know that's not on D&P, but I'm trying to make a general point).

i agree, i actually enjoy that one. i think a lot of amateur rappers mistake fast rapping for good rapping
