Mischa B uk x factor. Anyone see mischa B's performance of purple rain on the uk x factor?? I thought it was pretty good..she could have done better but she's easily the best there. Would you run to me if somebody hurt you even if that somebody was me? | |

She murdered the song, only two people should sing that tune, prince or O+>. That's all... The entire show is utter crap, it's embarrassing. | |

Love Misha. She is easily the best and my favourite, but she totally murdered the song. Coincidentally I had been listening to the original just before the show and her version, with the original so fresh in my head, literally hurt my ears!!!! But she is still the best by far. | |

I watched it when they first did the auditions, when they started with the show performances I find myself cringing at it- its a truly awful piece of television I would rather pull my finger nails out, its uneducational and fake the show doesnt care about the singers just about making money. when the series ends Mischa should break away from the show as fast as she can and forge a solo career with other music producers. I just listened to Mischa's version, and although Mischa's voice is ok and she can sing, she didn't emphasis in certain areas of notes in the song, that would have knocked it out of the box, like Stacey Francis' version did. Stacey's version was definitely much better.

I jsut wonder why they keep ruining this song, no one and I mean noone can sing this song as well as Prince so please don't try no more, it hurts. And why do they always try this one song when there are so many great Prince songs they could try - I would love someone to do a really obscure Prince song and bring it more recognition.

I was thinking that this afternoon. Why don't they do Little Red Corvette for rock week? I think that Prince is pretty hard to cover. They are not going to let them do obscure songs on X factor. Even the hits are not easy to cover. Who can do justice to Kiss or 1999 or When Doves Cry? I remember seeing Lemar covering Nothing Compares 2 U and it just didn't sound right. | |

Furthermore I think when a classic song is sung by other artists, people tend to look for the original artist of the song, so that kind of helps to keep the original artist and song memorable, as well as the song remaining a popular classic desired to be sung by other artists. I don't think anyone can actually ruin 'Prince's Purple Rain' song, just because it's not sung by the original artist. If the original artist doesn't have a problem with that, why would fans get more upset than the original artist over it? The song is a 'classic' and expected to be sung by other artists, just like other well-known classics. Other artists have sung 'Darling Nikki', 'Kiss' and 'I Want to be Your Lover', but those songs and other classics, will always be remembered by the artist who originally wrote or sang it first.
