APparently there is an album out there by a man in his fifties.. called LOTUS FLOWER
this cat in his 50's played ALL the instruments himself..played em with a fresher sound than most 20 year olds
i actually had to check his date of birth-this energy doesnt come from a midle aged man
it veers from lounge jazz to hard hard rock to pop to funk-i dont know anybody doin ths??
lyrically it questions more than it answers and apparently this cat jams all night
live apparently he is amazing..playing all night
you should check it out...

Yes You should, It is accompanied by a man in his fifties playing MPLSoUND brilliantly, all by himself, and the protoge of the century.
Lotus is one his greatest recent cds though. I agree [Edited 10/21/11 13:32pm]

It's one of his greatest albums but I'm pretty sure he didn't play everything on Lotus, most of it was recorded with a band. RIP

It's a great LP, but be careful when picking it up, there's a slimey piece of moldy cabbage stuck to the bottom of it called 'MPLSound', ick.

L0tu5 Fløw3r or whatever it was called, yeah.
But jonylawson— if you like that, you should really check out these albums by this guy 'Prince'.
Same sort of deal as the Lotu5 41o3r guy, but really fresh, intriguing, uncynical.,. He's a Christian, too, but there's joy in his gospel. Much more freedom and joy than the 107u5f103r dude.
Music really swings, too. Seriously, check him out. Prince. Anything up to 'Jughead' is great. [Edited 10/22/11 6:23am] Spreading heavy funk since 2008: theheaviestfunkintheworld.wordpress.com

I can dig what you're saying, this album does have a youthful vibe, more so than rainbow children or even musicology.
yet there are of alot of jazzy textures on this album that does hold a certain maturity of a 50 yr old man.
This set is the last time i have fully enjoyed Prince ... well, i still have not took the time out to listen to 20ten lol

That's not slime...it's an Elixer. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Honestly, I think Elixer is better than MPLSound. And Elixer is crap.... [Edited 10/22/11 9:53am]

He is NOT a Christian.... “At one time she was considered the world's youngest belly dancer. And Prince is the world's oldest woodland nymph!”

There is also this musical guy in his 50's who can't handle criticism and is extremely touchy of anyone who has issues w/ his business sense. He seems to throw a fit at random & aborts ideas fairly quickly leaving others flailing to pick up the pieces. He gets everyone juiced up by projects & then quickly stops promoting them after the release & pissing the distributor off in the process.
This brilliant artist also loves to hype up his live performances when there really seems to be little to hype. He loves to put up posters of extremely photo shopped posters of himself staring trying to hypnotize anybody to come to his shows.
When this artist performs, he gets the crowd involved by playing tepid covers of artists he panders to ex: "Wild Cherry,Michael Jackson,Led Zeppelin" Usually it's the same song over n over. It leads one to think that maybe he just put those in for filler & to seem hip w/ the audience. Most of his fans fall for this gag and praise him for his phoned in by the numbers hit medleys as well. But there are a few fans who realise what this artist is doing & won't praise him for milque toast performances.
When he doesn't want to give the fans a engaging show there are usually tell tale signs. He often quips w/ phrases like "So many hits so little time" or "NPG in the house" He enjoys giving the same scripted comments from city to city to make the audience seem like he really is sincere.
This brilliant artist likes to preach dogmatic close minded cultish religious ideas as to seem more in tune w/ the spiritual realm. But something tells me a Versace adorned man with bug eye shades who travels in limos & has moon shaped ear wrap jewelry, isn't one to take spiritual cues from. But that is just my gut feeling.

Yeah.
But did you see that Montreux footage? Second show, maybe? Not so much whammy bar wankery... "Whatever skin we're in

Prince is frequently misunderstood, this leads 2 all kinds of problems, tensions & frustrations 2 his listeners. He has a unique language & sometimes his meaning gets lost in the shuffle. The point is this, Prince will ALWAYS be: communicative, competitive & innovative AND THAT IS A GOOD THING, those are his strengths. What makes him thrive. Prince knows exactly how to dazzle AND how 2 hold the attention of his audience.

That is the funny thing about Prince. He does have moments like that but then he slips back into "Play that Funky Music/Bland covers/Phoned in by the number Hits Medleys" Hopefully he will do something different in Canada. Time will tell what direction he decides to go for "Welcome 2 Canada"

So, he's a brilliant artist with flaws? Is this unusual? And, so what? ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

When did he give that up then?
Because unless I'm sorely mistaken (and I'm not) Jehovah's Witnesses is a Christian denomination. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.
