Fans from the beginning

I was wondering if anybody here has been a fan from the begginning. Hasanyone here purchased For You, back in 1978 or 1979?

I guess that could count. But I'm looking more for people that got into or bought something by Prince before IWBY Lover. Which I'm sure would be hard to find as that was his breakthrough hit

I was only a mere child. So...NO...I did not purchase "For You"...myself...when in came out.

However, that does not mean for one moment...that I did not understand...The Boogie! rolleyes

You actually had to be there...some how...some motherfucking way! To understand that shit! nod headbang

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I'm sure there are a load of people on this site who were around to buy the debut album, and even more who claim to have been a fan then.

For me it wasn't 1978 or 1979 but 1981 when I bought my first album of Prince "Controversy". I know it's not the same, but still.

I bought the Soft and Wet single when it came out, but not the album. Does that count?

Well yes I think I was an early adopter, didn't buy the album back then cuz I was only 11 years old but my brother took it home from the library (together whit a Nona Hendryx album) where you could rent albums back in the day.
Maybe it counts, it was back in 1978 as I recall

There was a record shop 1 block from my house.

When I first heard Soft & Wert on the radio, I ran 2 the record shop and purchased the album less than 1 minute after the song when off the radio.

I bought the first album For You when it first came out. I was in the eleventh grade and was in a dance group at my school. We danced to Soft and Wet that year at the talent show. Be a fan every since!

U might not like the taste, but I'm still going to stick your face in this Funk

Well since I was only like 8 when For You came out, that would be a no, I didn't buy it.

However, my mom had friends who did and that's when I fell in love with him after I heard it. fallinluv

'Soft and Wet' was his first and breakthrough hit.

I Wanna Be Your Lover' made me a fan, but I already knew who Prince was.
