Whoelse HATES the (((Purple Fakers)))

Purple Faker is:

(no order)

1. anyone who ONLY knows Prince by 4 videos that were played in heavy rotation on MTV (we know the 4)

2. When asked to hear a song by Prince they ask for "Purple Rain" (oprah)

3. ONLY thinks of Prince from the Albums: 1999,Purple Rain & Around the world in a day..But when they want to get wild and think their a "major fan" they will bring up "Kiss" (just the song/video)..

4. Prince existed from 1982-1986 in their minds. because 99% of their description, questions to him, just basic thoughts happened here

5. Wear something Purple when you interview him or go to his concerts NOW.

1.I like prince, he's gay right?

2.I think he's cool but has he done anything since "The most beautiful girl in the world"

3.I think he's cool but has he done anything since the 80's?

Believe me, I could go on.. but I like your rules of being a purple faker.. hehe

Yea, surface fans are not only annoying but pathetic. WHY pathetic? B/c they're missing out on what he has to offer TODAY.

As far as wearing purple, unless it's a friggin' Kings jersey I don't wanna see it...

1. They still refer to him as "The Artist... or whatever his name is this week..." the fakers say it just like that, all one phrase.

2. "I heard Prince has a new album out... is it any good?"

3. My friend went to the Prince concert and she said it sucked, he didn't even play "When Doves Cry".

I have to set this one up, so bear with me. Although you won't run into this problem anymore, my all time favorite was this one back in 1991. Prince was on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine to promote the release of his new album Diamonds and Pearls. I took the magazine up to the counter. The lady looks at the magazine and then looks me in the eye and says:

4. "Oh... Prince is making a comeback!" And I think I looked back at her like she had three breasts. Even though that lady may not have been a true faker, it just goes to show how out of touch people are with Prince and perhaps vice versa.
"You've got to believe in something... why not believe in me?"

i'm a true prince (music) fan and have NOT seen that many videos from the little man. and frankly, judging by his hidious taste (apart from his brilliant music!), i'm not interested in seeing any more.

2. When asked to hear a song by Prince they ask for "Purple Rain" (oprah)

this is easily one of prince's biggest, most beautiful, commercial hits. you're only fronting cause YOU're getting tired of it and would rather hear something new!

3. ONLY thinks of Prince from the Albums: 1999,Purple Rain & Around the world in a day..But when they want to get wild and think their a "major fan" they will bring up "Kiss" (just the song/video)..

non-prince fans either bring up his somewhat homosexual expressions or his ridiculous name-change. prince-admirers mostly name 'kiss' or 'purple rain' as prince's greater songs, because they are! be glad they admire the man, even if they only know JUST those songs.

4. Prince existed from 1982-1986 in their minds. because 99% of their description, questions to him, just basic thoughts happened here

most think of prince as an 80's risen-star and 90's fallen-star.. and they're right! commercially speaking that is.

5. Wear something Purple when you interview him or go to his concerts NOW.

this i'm not familiar with..

I am a true original. I've been a fan since 1983 and I have never given up on Prince or his musical genius. I also hate people who think his last release was TMBGITW or worse, purple rain. When I told a few people at work that I was going to see him in concert, they asked "why, he hasn't done anything in years". I just bit my tongue. No sense arguing with people who are so clued out.

I always laugh, when someone says

"Prince's latest release, 'Rave' was subpar, compared to his Purple Rain days."

HELLO It's 2003! There's been atleast 4 albums out since then, and 2 of them were official releases. You should be properly educated about something before you criticize it. If you don't then you are 'ignor'ant.

why don't you leave people to like Prince as much as they want to like Prince.

who the f@@k made you an expert on how many albums you must own, what you should wear and what song is cool to request at a gig.

If they like P and take the time to go see him live then that's all that matters, not if they know what time he get's up and takes a piss.

me, I buy everything I can get my hands on, but if someone wants me to buy them a ticket because they liked When Doves Cry, then I'll gladly get them one and tell them to avoid the obsessive w@#k$ in the first row.

i've heard this one A LOT. from fakers and not. I can't count the number of times that I've said something about Prince, and people say, "He's not Prince anymore." it probably shouldn't, but it always surprises me.

I used to really hate those people, them, poseurs, and preps.
But hey, if they're not into Prince that much, too bad, it's their loss.
I just can't can't belive how many people still think he's "the artist" or whatever.
But if the question "is he gay"? comes up, that's when I really get mad

Some people are into Prince more than others, that's all.

I like to wear purple. I've seen several ladies at PP and the concerts with purple clothes ,finger nail polish, so what?

I've been a Prince fan since 1983 and I paint my nails purple for every celebration, It's called, having a good time.

this is the first time i have looked properly at this site and a lot you out there seem to very bitter and aggresive about fans and what they should like and not like.I have been a major fan and have spent time with the people and bands of prince.if it wasn't for the part time fan who bought certain cd's, Prince would not have the money or oppurtunity to release and record in his own enviroment.

yes,the part-time fans helped prince be successful but all people see is the commercial stuff or brand him gay.It annoys me as these people are clueless.I suggest they listen more closely to his stuff as the material that doesnt make it to single is just as good or even better. The rainbow Children is proof of his genius.

I was extremelly pissed of at Earls Court in 1991 when I went to see prince. I was surrounded by school girls who had been taken by there parents and every time a song came on that wasn't on Diamonds and Pearls you could hear them asking each other "what's this one, I don't know this one" as if Prince had only done D&P. I would be interested to see if any of those girls are still Prince fans today "or what ever is name is?"... that's a joke by the way.

Although I always wear either a Prince T-shirt or a Purple Shirt to concerts, but I'm no faker - exept for this one time with a girl.
It were proper bo I tell the!! Bo Selecta!

There was a news item on dutch television in 1995 after the Brabanthallen concert. They interviewed some 'fans' leaving the building after the show, some statements (translated):

"What was this? I guess I knew one song he played, where were all the classics?"

"This was very strange, I believe he called this the 'Welcome to the Interactive Experience' tour or something?! And they say he doesn't call himself Prince anymore! He didn't even play Purple Rain"

"I've been a fan for 30 years (!!!) and I thought I was going to see a Prince concert, but he isn't even called Prince and I don't know a single song he played..."

Becareful about how you categorize fans, because going out of your way to not be a trendy 'purple faker' is a lot more pathetic if you ask me. Just be yourself, big ass deal if someone does not eat, sleep, drink, and breathe Prince.

I personally do not care to call his recent material some genious work of art, he did his revolutionary stuff back in the day. It bothers me when people take something like Princes recent music and try to glorify it just so they can scoff at those with opposing opinions.

Come on, this is not some highschool clique we are talking about here. People appreciate and enjoy music for different reasons, I myself am a vocalist and I can safely say that I like the idea of knowing music is widely appealing for various reasons to various groups of people.

There are those who can sit down and dissect a song, and then there are those who just want to dance. Music is a journey, people have to start somewhere, just leave them alone.

I know a lot about music and I personally dislike a lot of Princes recent works, sorry, I just do. When I read about people calling it the holy grail I just laugh. It's like the same people who think couture fashion is a work of art. Oh I see, so couture basically means butt ugly.
