Purple Rain the movie began as as the start of a concert film from Controversy calle the 2nd Coming, from there in Prince's famous purple notebook he began developing a movie called Dreams which Albert Magnoli title Purple Rain. the electricity of this era was magnified by the movie. What fans of Prince:For U-199 the Time & Vanity 6 understood about "Uptown" came to the big screen. And exciting time, the deleted scenes, the music, that intended music, the script with Vanity written in. the explicit scenes and the whole background including the infamous 1983 1st Avenue show that premiered live music that became the Purple Rain sound strack. Background myths and drama. Introducing the white cloud.

became a total family affair."

Electric Intercourse
Intended for Purple Rain, this song was taped during the benefit concert for the Minnesota Dance Theatre company at First Avenue, August 3rd 1983. It's a simple ballad with an electric piano to the fore. Prince sings of the sexual electricity that exists between him and his lover. No known studio recording is in circulation.

Electric Intercourse

I feel some kind of love 4 U
I don't know your name
This is the kind of love that takes 2
I want U and I'm not ashamed

Cuz baby, U shock my wild
With a sexual electricity extraordinaire
Come and take advantage and undress me
I don't even know U, I don't even care

I feel some kind of sexual courage
Tell me do U feel it 2?
Our bodies wanna be 2gether
Girl, I wanna be with U

Electric is my body, baby
I'll shock U with my lips
Darling, don't U know
Your Technicolor climax is at my fingertips?
Hear me, baby

Electric intercourse, electric intercourse (Wake up, Wendy!)
Don't U wanna?
Electric intercourse, electric intercourse
Don't U wanna make love, sweet love, my love?

Mash it

Electric is my body, baby
I'll shock U with my lips (Yes I will)
Darling, don't U know
Your technicolor climax is at my fingertips
Baby, no no, listen 2 me

Electric intercourse, electric intercourse
Don't U wanna?
(I say this)
Electric intercourse, electric intercourse
(I say the first intercourse, I say the first one)
Don't U wanna make love, sweet love, my love?

Yeah

Electric intercourse, electric intercourse
Don't U wanna?
Electric intercourse, electric intercourse
Don't U wanna make love, my love, sweet love, yeah?

Don't U wanna?
Electric intercourse
Don't U wanna make love, yeah?

M.C. (O.S.) G-SPOT & ELECTRIC INTERCOURSE
Ladies and Gentlemen -- please
welcome Prince!

The CLUB erupts in CRIES! Prince hits
the stage, launches into "G-spot," a
fast, high-spirited funk tune that gets
the crowd hopping. Vanity watches as
Prince whips the crowd into a frenzy.
Morris listens with a complacent grin on
his face, his eyes searching out various
members of The Time who are scattered
through-out the club. When he connects
with one of them he makes a series of
absurd faces which sends them into
hysterics. For Prince is playing music
that The Time is noted for, and, as far
as Morris is concerned, performs better.
Not everyone in the club is dancing, or
paying attention, and this does not
escape his notice.

Suddenly "G-Spot" comes to a rousing
end. The CROWD cheers wildly. Prince
moves quickly to the piano and launches
into "Electric Intercourse," a love
ballad which, as it progresses, becomes
a personal statement for Vanity and
Prince himself.

She listens intently, her eyes fastened
on him. The words have a profound
effect on her -- and the audience.
Without being consciously aware of it,
they're moving closer to the stage,
searching for their personal fix. Prince
surrenders himself to the music totally,
releasing from himself all that is
hurtful -- releasing the sincerity and
truthfulness that escapes him in his
daily life. We are entering realm
where life and music are inextricably
bound, and the impact on the performer
and listener is profound.

He's directing his music toward her, and
she receives it gratefully, almost
anxiously. It fills a void in her, hewn
by a life of meaningless promises. He
searches her face with his magnificent
eyes, and ends the song with a
heartrending cry which connects with the
souls of all present. Everyone is
paying attention now.

The stage is plunged into darkness. The
CROWD goes CRAZY! Vanity applauds
vigorously, wipes the tears from her
eyes. Morris, who was more affected by
the performance than he'd care to admit,
doesn't like what he sees and searches
for a winning line--

The Purple Rain era:

What can you tell us about the overall vibe of Prince and the whole band on, the night you debuted the Purple Rain tracks at First Ave in Minneapolis? What do you remember of that day before the show and that night after this legendary performance? How nervous do you remember Wendy being before her first gig with the band that night?

We were so well rehearsed that any opening night jitters melted away after the first song was played. I think Wendy was more excited than nervous.

Tell us about your experience the day that Purple Rain premiered at Hollywood's Mann's Chinese Theater in California. What was going through your head seeing yourself on the big screen?

The whole thing was so surreal that day that the memory of it still seems like a dream. Seeing oneself on the big screen for the first time is also a dream come true. Of course, you hope that your complexion is looking OK on a close up.

The 1983 concert took place at First Avenue in Minneapolis. A year later when the club was featured in Purple Rain (the movie), the venue would be changed forever. In 1983 however, it was perfect for hosting a newly minted Prince & The Revolution. Prince had been performing with some of the band members for a while, but the show was the debut of guitarist Wendy Melvoin who would continue with the band until their dissolution in 1986.
But back on track – the 1983 show (August 3rd, to be more exact) was the first public live performance of Prince & The Revolution. The concert was a benefit for the Minnesota Dance Theater Company. It was also the first time the band would perform several of what would become their signature tracks, most importantly Purple Rain.
Everyone knows the song. Play the first few chords and you’ll have everyone around you singing along. But in 1983 that wasn’t the case. Instead you had a capacity crowd silenced by the song’s first performance. This is one of only a handful of bootlegs of this track that does not have the crowd going nuts; instead they listen to the song and literally see history in the making. Obviously they can’t sing along, the song is new. So instead they listen; Seeing Prince at his absolute rawest in a tiny club with bad sound, sweating his ass off for the Minnesota Dance Theater Company. And melting off faces with one of his best guitar solos.
This live show made up the basis for several Purple Rain tracks, including the title track, I Would Die 4 U and Baby I’m A Star. Prince’s vocals are spot on with how you know them – because they were recorded from a mobile truck outside of First Avenue. Add in a few overdubs and there you have it, one of the best selling albums of the 80s.
Regardless of how you view Prince now, back then one thing was clear – his name was Prince, his favorite color was purple, and he was a bad motherfucker.

the BEAUTIFUL ONES replace GSPOT & ELECTRIC INTERCOURSE

The Beautiful Ones
This version is the full version of the track that was edited down for Purple Rain. It contains a few more lyrics toward the end. It was recorded in September, 1983 at Sunset Sound.

Baby, baby, baby - what's it gonna be?
Baby, baby, baby - is it him or is it me?
Don't make me waste my time
Don't make me lose my mind, baby

Baby, baby, baby - can't U stay with me 2night?
Oh baby, baby, baby - don't my kisses please U right?
U were so hard 2 find
The beautiful ones, they hurt U every time

Paint a perfect picture
Bring 2 life a vision in one's mind
The beautiful ones always smash the picture
Always, every time

If I told U, baby, that I was in love with U
Oh baby, baby, baby - if we got married, would that be cool?
U make me so confused
The beautiful ones U always seem 2 lose

Baby, baby, baby
Well, what's it gonna be, baby?

Do U want him or do U want me?
Cuz I want U!
Said I want U!
Tell me, baby, do U want me?
I gotta know, I gotta know
Do U want me?
Can I tell U a story?
Huh, I said the beautiful ones
Sometimes U lose
Let me tell U, baby
Sometime, sometime, sometimes U win
Yes U do
Listen here, I said sometime, huh
Sometime I get so confused
Yes I do, but I...
I said right now, right now
I know what I want, I want U
Baby, baby, baby - listen 2 me!
I may not know where I'm going, baby!
Looka here - I said I may not know what I need!
One thing, one thing's 4 certain, baby
I know what I want, yeah!
And if it please U, baby, please U, baby
I'll beg U down on my knees!
I want U!
Yeah, I want U!
Baby, baby, baby, baby - I want U!
Yes I do!

Shooting of the Purple Rain film began in November 1983. The Time performed "Jungle Love" and "The Bird" in the film. They were recorded in 1983.

Disintegration

When it came to record The Time's third album, Ice Cream Castle, Prince's control was less firm than on previous albums with the group. This time, group members actually played on the record, and Morris Day and Jesse Johnson had a part in writing several songs.

However, there were dissensions in the studio, and guitarist Jesse Johnson, who was strongly involved in the project, was disappointed in Prince's strong control over the group, "He only let me write and produce on the last Time album because he knew I was quitting, and when I quit anyway he took my production credit off. I wrote, played and produced stuff like 'Jungle Love.'"

In April of 1984, after the album was completed, Morris Day left Minneapolis to settle down in Santa Monica, California. This was the beginning of the end for The Time. Jesse Johnson had already decided to leave the group and Morris was more interested in pursuing a solo career. Their departures weren't announced officially until after the premiere of Purple Rain.

Ice Cream Castle

9 July 1984 saw the release of Ice Cream Castle . Four songs are listed by ASCAP as being written jointly by Prince, Morris Day and Jesse Johnson, "Ice Cream Castles," "If The Kid Can't Make You Come," "My Drawers," and "The Bird." Even though it's credited to Morris and Jesse on the sleeve, "Jungle Love" is listed as a Prince/Morris Day composition by ASCAP, while "Chili Sauce" is actually credited to St. Paul Peterson in collaboration with Prince and Morris. Prince's songwriting contributions are credited to Jamie Starr.

The album is the least satisfying of the three Time albums. It contains very little of the sting and zest of the two previous records. It's quite clear that Prince was beginning to spread his talents thin due to his writing of the albums with Sheila E and Apollonia 6 as well as material for his own use.

Concerning black/white love, the opening "Ice Cream Castles," a swaying R&B groove, fails to match "Wild And Loose" or "Get It Up," the strong opening cuts on their previous albums. Yet it stands heads and shoulders over the next two songs, "My Drawers," a guitar-heavy "funk metal" rock number, and "Chili Sauce," a tedious ballad with violin and spoken lyrics used more to show off Morris' cool persona than showcase any interesting musical ideas.

Side two is better, opening with "Jungle Love," a solid funky R&B groove with infectious chants and synth hook, as well as frenzied guitar work by Jesse. Along with "The Bird," another fine R&B cut, which closes the album, "Jungle Love" is the closest the band gets to achieving its past glories.

Sandwiched between "Jungle Love" and "The Bird" is "If The Kid Can't Make You Come," a ballad which sounds dreary, watered down, and at seven minutes, definitely outstays its welcome.

The final Time track to appear for six years was "Tricky," the B-side of "Jungle Love." This song however is just Prince mimicking Morris' vocals. The remaining band members can be heard giggling in the background at Prince's digs at Morris, "When I look in the mirror, I see your ugly face, I just wanna run" and "It's time for you to retire, you old." The song finishes with the sound of a toilet flushing.

Undoubtedly helped by Morris Day's charismatic appearance in Purple Rain, the album became the best selling Time album. It went gold and reached number three on the black album chart and number 24 on the pop chart.

20) EXT. PRINCE'S HOUSE -- NIGHT

Prince WHIPS down the street, cuts his
motor, coasts up the drive. He comes to
a stop against a wooden gate. His house
is a nondescript, one-family structure
with a wide front porch. He lives in a
neat and tidy, homogeneous, lower middle-
class neighborhood whose occupants are
hard-working type fiercely protective of
their privacy.

He climbs the steps to the porch, opens
the front door...

...his mothers SCREAM is like ice in his
veins. Fear trickles into the hollows
of his body like cold water, His pain
commands him to move, but the impulse
short circuits somewhere at the waist,
leaving his legs twitching
uncontrollably. Then another SCREAM
from his mother, and his father's voice
now, LOUD and FURIOUS--

FATHER (O.S.)
Listen to me! You come home
when I say come home! You've
got no business in the
streets!

WHACK! His mother SCREAMS -- Prince
BURSTS into the room.

(21) INT. Prince's LIVING ROOM -- NIGHT

Prince's MOTHER is at the far side of
the living room CRYING uncontrollable.
She's in her early 40's, a dark-haired,
faded beauty, with large, wild, anxious
eyes. There's a detectable scent of
liquor in the air, and her slurred
speech pins her as the source.

His FATHER is in his late 40's, a squat,
but solidly built black man, with a
cherubic face, and graceful expressive
hands.

He's upon her now, WHACKING! at her
horribly, trying to get to her face--

FATHER
You do what I say, do you hear
me?! You've got to keep this
place clean! You here, no
place else!

MOTHER
You're crazy!

WHACK!

MOTHER
Asshole!

WHACK!

MOTHER
Motherfucker!!!

The Father lunges, WHACKS! her across
the face. She topples to the floor, a
lamp CRASHES to the ground. Prince cuts
through the room, lunges desperately in
front of him--

PRINCE
(pleading)
Please, Dad...she's heard you.
She's had enough!

His Mother drags herself up along the
wall--

MOTHER
(hysterical)
He's trying to kill me! He's
crazy! Look what he's doing
to me!

PRINCE
(tearfully)
Dad, please ... she's--

WHACK! Prince's head snaps back, his
feet lift from the floor, his body
CRASHES in a heap by the door...

Stunned SILENCE. Prince, flat on his
back, fights vertigo with everything
he's got. His Mother lets out a YELP,
rushes into the bedroom, SLAMS the door.
His Father stands motionless, sullen--

FATHER
Get up...you ain't hurt.

Prince opens his Mouth, BLOOD gushes
from a gash in his tongue. He hoists
himself up slowly, using the wall for
support. He moves into the kitchen,
disappears down the basement steps.

nod There's still something of a mystery regarding Prince's childhood but I doubt it was that dramatic though there were obvious problems lol plus his mother was beautiful but she didn't have that long flowing hair the woman in the movie had and Prince's daddy didn't look too shabby neither so why he look like an old fart in the movie? lol Makes no sense. Should've gotten Billy Dee Williams for it lol guess Prince was on some Marvin Gaye type shit with the movie. Probably not,

As far as his mother is concerned Prince did say something about her having a lot of hair and how she and her friends wore their hair color blond and red and were lively on the town

In the movie the father looked shabby because he was depressed (he did attempt suicide) and I think in the script the mother was an alcoholic as well as the father. The script gives a lot of background on the parents

And Billy D Williams would have cost too much to have on as an actor ... I think at this time he just starred in ST:Empire Strikes Back
