As already reported in the concert forum news, there are reports that Prince has some kind of a deal with a suisse funk/house label Purple Music and they report some new albums are coming with the head of the label, DJ Jamie Lewis, will be remixing some of the music for clubs etc..

The first single is said to be Dance 4 me, which is why i still have doubts...

But he has apparently a good name in the house scene. Let`s wait and see...

Lors de sa venue à Zurich en août dernier, l’auteur de «Purple Rain» est resté quelques jours en Suisse, après son concert au Hallenstadion. Il a travaillé dans un studio local et a demandé à son management de lui trouver un label pour ses sorties futures.

Son passé de DJ funk et l’impressionnant catalogue du label (plus de 400 titres dont ceux de Cerrone, Imagination ou Jocelyn Brown) ont séduit la star américaine, qui désire donner une direction plus «club» à sa musique.

L'entourage de Prince a alors tenté de contacter Purple Music par téléphone dans ses bureaux de Winterthour: sans succès. Et pour cause, le DJ et sa femme étaient en vacances à l'étranger. Manuela a reçu un e-mail émanant du management de la star qui lui demandait son numéro de portable puisque celui du bureau ne répondait pas. Pensant d'abord à un spam, elle a tout de même envoyé son contact, sans grand espoir. Quelques jours plus tard, les managers de Prince rencontraient les responsables du label alémaniques. Et après quatre heures de discussions, les contrats étaient signés.

Un premier single en novembre

«Prince enregistre en ce moment, dans son studio de Minneapolis, de nouveaux morceaux mêlant funk et house, précise Arnold Meyer. Nous avons déjà reçu les deux premiers singles: «Dance 4 Me», prévu pour le mois de novembre et «2 Nite» qui suivra.» Sur ce dernier, Prince a convié sa protégée, chanteuse et mannequin, Bria Valente. Le premier des trois albums paraîtra l'année prochaine.

A la demande du Kid, ses sorties seront disponibles dans le monde entier en digital mais aussi en vinyle. Sur chaque single, Jamie Lewis remixera les chansons de Prince.

Et côté financier? Les Alémaniques reconnaissent avoir payé une avance à Prince, mais refusent d'en divulguer le montant. «C'est top secret! Nous ne communiquons pas à ce sujet», disent-ils.

Thanks for the link. I think it's not 100 % bullshit, but some things are just not right... I hope Drfunkenberry can clear it up soon.

Hmmm and Jamie Lewis is at the Supper Club this Friday with a Purple Music night during the Amsterdam Dance Event. Should I go there or to Buddha Bar with Kenny Dope, Masters at Work, Joey Negro and Candy Dulfer etc?

How about 10* cds re-mastered - from For You 1978 to Lovesexy 1988.. ?


with 10 cds of bonus track, b-sides, outtakes, ext versions etc...

I agree with U Riverman.. I mean I LOVE that song.. but its old and we need some NEW tunes to funk too...

A new CD with 12-15 NEW songs on it would be wonderful...

Prince Strikes Distribution Deal For “Dance” Remixes

What started off as a rumor I was emailed about regarding Prince signing a 3 album record deal turned out to be false.

However, an interesting distribution deal is happening. For those wishing for new Prince music though, you might be disappointed.

I reached out to the label "Purple Music" started in the 90's by Jamie Lewis. His inspiration for naming the label "Purple Music" was because purple was his favorite color, and he was watching the movie "Purple Rain" at the time. Lewis has "Purple Music" dance parties all the time, but are not Prince related. The label is located in Switzerland and specializes in House and club music.

Prince and "Purple Music" struck a deal to release and distribute "Dance 4 Me"(Originally from his 2009 #2 Billboard album "Lotusflow3r" and "MPLSound") as a single release also including the David Alexander remixes of the song.

The label is also working on new remixes to complete a new package.

The label wanted to make sure that everyone knows this is not the new Prince label nor did they sign a 3 album deal with him. The article that posted that earlier today was completely wrong.

"Purple Music" will also distribute "2nite" by Bria Valente (a song featured on her Elixer CD that came with Prince's 2009 Lotusflow3r collection) and credits Bria as a Prince protegé, background vocalist for Usher, as well as a singer and model. There will be a few mixes of the song as well but nothing further they can say at this time.

I want to thank Manuela Berter of "Purple Music" for getting back to us quickly and providing detailed information about the deal.

It is not exactly a new practice to re-release a single a couple of years after a song appeared on an album or was originally released. It has been some time though since it has been done.

We always liked the song "Dance 4 Me" and felt it was a shame a video was never made for the song. Perhaps this time, maybe a video will accompany this release, although two years later.-DocFB

The guy is crazier than I thought.

However, I like him having a proper contract again and releasing some vinyls. I'm so old school...

I gotta agree with Gray on this. I'd rather have an extended version of "Act Of God" then remixes of "Dance 4 Me", which is perfect in it's released form AND long enough.

Also, he's had many far better remixes than the one I heard of "Dance 4 Me" a while back... Just sayin.

I think there will be a new album next year... he recorded at couple of studio's.. in Hollywood, at Paisley Park and in Switzerland..
