Definitive Live Tracks From "Prince" (Album) I'm trying to make a cd with all the tracks from a Prince album but live. I'll start with "Prince" I'm wondering what the best live preformance of each track is and what sets it off from the rest. Can be from any tour 1. I Wanna Be Your Lover 2. Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad? 3. Sexy Dancer 4. When We're Dancing Close And Slow 5. With You 6. Bambi 7. Still Waiting 8. I Feel For You 9. It's Gonna Be Lonely
PS If Some tracks were not preformed live don't mention em
The folks from Brooklyn play da bass pretty good but the ones from Minneappolis play it like they OUGHTA SHOULD!

Most of them are best at the Prince tour except for:
I Wanna Be Your Lover (Lovesexy Tour) Still Waiting (Controversy Tour) I Feel For You (Anywhere from 19997-2011)
But that's just me | |

For Bambi, you need either the Tokyo (Nude Tour) or The Undertaker. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad? Was also very good during the 1999 Tour

You can do this if you want to of course. You'd be hard pressed comparing all the live versions of Bambi and picking the best. When We're Dancing... is easier. I think that one hasn't been played live until this year. But even in the Melkweg, which was the best gig ever, I still found it kinda boring. But that's just me... You're not unique by the way. The same kind of bootleg cds axist of Bob Dylan. An alternative album compiled by live versions. Oh well...

This is a pretty cool idea! Though it is unfortunately dependent on what was actually played live vs recorded in the studio (which I'm guessing a decent chunk of album material hasn't been performed live, yet.)
Still a cool concept, hope you post what you ultimately settle on.
Would be interesting to compile a mirror list of all the tracks known recorded live, discuss their best version.
As far as contributing to your post, Genesia made a good recommendation for Bambi, I would also suggest comparing that to the version on The Park Volume 1, Disc 3. The guitar is pretty gravy, there are some parts where the mic vibrates, but all in all a great version.
