I dunno if anyone's made this connection, but this is the same Stacey Francis that used to be in the early 90's girl-group Ex-Girlfriend.

She also performed with Prince a few times in the '90s (see the 3/22/95 performance at the Emporium).

I was wondering that too as I was as that Emporium performance and remember the name.

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Ok, I get that the rules for X-factor are a little different

But for me the fact that she's been in a signed group that has released 3 albums....AND she.s performed in concert wirh Prince!

I'm sorry, but that in my opinion cancels out her 'ametuer' status (which she has been playing up)

What about other contestants? Given many viewers don't know all the contestants' histories either, I don't think it matters whether they were once in the business as signed acts or returning for a second chance seeking their passion/dream. Is that part of the X-Factors' contestant rules that they can't have a history of performing with a known artist or had a previous contract from a record label? I think as long as they have the talent, drive/passion, why not go for it, amateur or not.

I liked it...the best version I've heard since Patti Labelle murdered it.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

@2elijah, I agree with you. I don't think it is against the rules. There was also a contestant who was once married to Ike Turner!!! Imagaine that!! It's like NBA players particpating in the Olympics agains athelets who are not pros and winning the Gold medal. I don't get that confused

LOL...now that's history right there, and yes I see nothing wrong with someone who had the opportunity years ago to pursue their passion, to come back and try again. Makes no sense for anyone to put limits on their dreams/passions. If you listen to someone else's negative criticism of why they think you'll never accomplish your dream or passion, you'll be living for them and not yourself. You come through this life once, may as well get all you can out of it.lol

damn, this song gets incredibly boring when it's sung by somebody else than Prince. Prince hit a nerve with his own vocals and especially his timing. Everyone I've heard covering this song is rushing too much. Purple Rain is a slow song, you have plenty of time to catch up if you're a bit too slow. I much rather hear somebody sing this song in a laidback way. Actually, I don't really like it when he is covering it himself either, cause no matter how technically better he has become through the years, he's getting twice as lazy, and sings some of his own songs more like a great karaoke singer than the actual creator of his songs. This is not always, but pretty damn often.

No. Do not want.

I don't watch this show, she has a nice/great voice, but that wasn't the song for her.

If you're gonna do Purple Rain u gotta bring it with attitude, emotion. She hit the notes but nothing special about it to me, shoulda picked a different song.

Interesting her connection with Prince and her former group. I guess it's alright she tried to represent but her version of PR did nothing for me.

I could see Nicole S. doing a better version of course with her attitude and sexiness, even though she couldn't hit the notes this chick Stacy did.

No. Do not want.

I didn't see it on TV, but watched the clip here. I wasn't impressed. The only person who can do that song justice is The Man, my baby!, himself! hmph!
