OMG, I Kinda Know Prince(by 3 Degrees)!!!!

I found out this weekend that a relative of mine recently got hired personally by Prince. Considering how private Prince is, I hesitate to give identifying details but I can say that my relative never told us that they had the opportunity to previously work for him before being hired permanently. Ironically, as of late, I’d been begging them to go see Prince in concert because you never know when you’ll have another chance, u need to witness a true musical genius and a living legend, blah blah blah. But they are so professional, they never gave a hint about meeting him or working for him.

Apparently, Prince was impressed and recently hired them. I've been a Prince fan for 26 years and my relative is a member of the second generation of our family. This is the coolest thing ever as I've never met anyone who knows him personally. This unbelievable news proves it really is a small world. Fortunately their hard work paid off and I couldn't be prouder of them. It really is a dream job for those in this profession. Any of u have a similar connection? One degree, two degrees, three degrees, 20 degrees, etc....Thx for reading my long ambiguous post, just wanted to share our good news with people who can appreciate it.

Just wanted to update this post. The working relationship is going great. Personally Prince has been very nice to my relative as he has done non-work related things for them. For example, I asked for a guitar pic from Prince and received it last week. Sorry Pics r so big. Ahh privileges, I won't take advantage.

I agree. If I were you I wouldn 't post anymore about this subject. But its cool your relative got this opportunity.

That's cool! But maybe you should not include "this weekend" because Prince can easily find out who he hired this weekend and fire them.

Tell them I said congrates and to ask Prince for their money up front. Prince will surely understand.

I agree... I would be pretty pissed if I knew you were putting this on the org... I would probably never tell you anything out of fear you were gonna blab it... let alone be worried Prince would fire me!

If they do get fired over a trivial guitar pic then I believe my relative would me strangely better off. Who needs that kind of paranoia in their lives. I posted unidentifiable information at best. What do you really know about me that Prince could find out? Maybe he should have done a backgroud check on all their relatives. Oh no! a family member of yours belongs to the org!!! No way I'm hiring U. I'm jesting. Your advice is correct and I will not post anymore concerning this. I just wanted to share some good news with people who get it. Peace.

I predict your next one will be, "How I screwed over my relative who worked for Prince, but doesn't anymore."

Ohhh, I see...this is a follow-up post to the one in May (which you of course can't reply to now).

So it wasn't this weekend just past that you found out...he's obviously been working for him now for over 5 months.

In that case, nice update, just not a terribly well thought out follow-up thread imo (perhaps a more accurate title and more apt description, rather than just reposting the post from May, would have helped - I read the topic as being "I kinda know a Prince update" rather than it being an update to an earlier thread).

Glad all is going well - and if he's been working for him for around half a year now, you're right, neither is likely to be too stressed about you talking about it (given that you haven't spilled any details about the nature of the work, of course).

I think this is SO VERY COOL AND FANTASTIC! I kind of agree with the previous posts, but at the same time...Prince could not be that harsh. ...???... He probably is amazed many people here, thinks he is that hard on people. Haha..But This is good to know.

Some random black guy currently living in Sweden..has NO connection to Prince as of yet. (ME) Hahaha! YET..But I can not wait to attend a concert (I Swear I will attend his next one) and to probably meet him one day... WHO KNOW'S!

I really didnt mean to rain on your parade... Im sorry for that, but Ive heard so many bad stories about how hard he is to work for, and he does seem a bit paranoid and fires people for weird shit... I just would hate to have your family member get fired from a dream job is all...

Your relative should be able to hook you up with a show (through the tour manager, they usually know how many passes, tickets, etc the crew gets), or give you a heads up about an aftershow.

Should any parties interested see this thread, I'll guarantee they'll know who the person is from the OP - I had no agenda in my post other than to acknowledge that the point of the thread was now clearer for me.

I'm sure, if he's been working for Prince for months now (and we've been given no indication of in what capacity), then it's not going to bother anyone so much.

Offering the news during a lull in Prince activity, should it have all just happened, would have perhaps raised alarm bells in Prince's camp (hardly "cold and sinister", just extremely mindful of privacy and non-disclosure), but I was much less concerned when I realised he was just updating us on a working relationship that's been operating successfully (and quietly) for a substantial part of the year.
