There I named one.

I listened to both and I really like 100 watts. Thats pretty good. Is the rest of the Jesse cd like that? or is that the best track? I like that alot. Sticky...ehhhh.. Not that big on that one. sorry

Verbal Penetration has some funk, soulful, rock songs. So not all songs on the album sound like this one. It's not even one of my favorites on the cd so yesss it's worth getting and hearing.

This song is generic to me. Generic Family Band, no real personality. I can hear stabs of Prince and Sly all over.

A Prince song funkier than this released in the "past few years"? Let's say past few means his last 4 albums?

People do a lot of complaining about prince's music and I always wonder what it it that they are hearing (or not hearing) that I am. It's really impossible to know until they hold up some other music for comparison. At that point I can get an inkling of where their "head is at".

So with that in mind. Really? You find that "funky"? To my ears it sounds as others have mentioned completely generic. If Prince was putting out anything as generic as this I would just fade off into the sunset.

I think every thing Prince has put out in the last few years is "funkier" than this. I include ballads and rock tunes in the equation too lol. Prince music tends to include unique sounds in the mix, witty lyrics, and great musicianship. The "genius" of Prince always rises the level of the music to a realm beyond genericness. At Prince's worst he is generic only in comparison to his own work. That's what makes him so special. I really do think people underestimate the "craft" that Prince puts into his work.

Lord....Get out my head! I was giving Jesse the benefit of the doubt because i like the guy, but you're spot on. Can you just post all the time so i can lurk permanently? lol

Ha Ha! Unlike many here I actually respect prince as an artistic genuis and feel privledged to have been able to follow his career from the beginning. What I "hear" in Prince has remained unchanged even as he has changed musically. Its the musical intelligence that he brings to the table regardless of genre. That's something that can't be learned. Its inherent to his being and informs everything he does. And feeling that way doesn't mean I think everything he does is a masterpiece but he his just working with a better set of "tools" than most.

Every song is built on top of 1 basic loop.

I like this project but it just simply cannot be compared 2 Prince music.

Oh, ok.

Cool groove, but nothing unique. Sounds like every Prince & Morris Day cliche rolled into one song.

Jesse Johnson = the B or even C-version movie-version of Prince.

Nothing original. Just very generic. Competent, but forgettable in the end.
