Meaning of 3121 I'm sure you all know by now the meaning of these numbers and I am sorry to bother you (again?) with this, but I don't... I did the searching in the org but it seems there is no official explanation.. When i google it, i find a chemical component used to treat epileptic seizures. Anything to do with our stuff here? here is the link

From wikipedia:
The title of the album was believed to be a reference to the address of Prince's rented Los Angeles mansion. A lawsuit filed against Prince by the landlord (NBA playerCarlos Boozer) indicates an entirely different address (1235 Sierra Alta Way).[12] However, Prince has repeatedly referred to the property as "3121"; indeed, the lawsuit alleges he painted 3121 on the exterior of the property, and the album's liner notes indicate that it was "recorded at Paisley Park Studios and 3121."
According to another explanation the album's title refers to a verse in the Bible (Psalms 31:21). "Blessed be Jehovah (God/Yahweh), For he has rendered wonderful loving-kindness to me in a city under stress." Prince made a reference to this during a performance of the title track on the 2006 BET Awards; "Where's the real party at? Shake your tambourines! BET read Psalms; that's where it is."

It's about vaginas.
All of Prince's songs which aren't about Jehova or record contracts are about vaginas.

Vaginas and Jehovas. Like a lot of the best songs it's just as much about god, as it is about fucking.

at the fools who have responded thus far.
This thread is a total flashback. This topic was debated at great length after the ablum was released. I thought it was generally agreed upon that it was some scripture (chapter/verse) or other. I'm probably wrong, though.

Found that old thread, wasted a few minutes there, and left none the wiser.
For a minute there, I thought 3121 referred to a statistic Prince mentioned in an old print interview...that 30 million worldwide have AIDS and 21 million of those are African-American. Then I realized the 'address' was 31 (not 30 million) and poof, there went that theory. Plus the number of AIDS victims had risen dramatically by the time he moved into the Sierra Alta property.
It's probably that verse in Psalms.
I also wanted to know where he came up with the name Paisley (as in Paisley Park). I found that "Paisley" is Scottish for 'church'. No idea, but that would at least make sense. When you don't have a case, yell RACE!

i dont know how this could be realted. prince respects hendrix but has said many many times that santana is his guitar hero. people use the hendrix reference bcos they are both black men.9word to people in the africa origins thread, form his own mouth he considers himself a black man at least as a guitarist)
im thinkin its to do with the scripture. that seems like a much more relevant hint to drop. Prince #MUSICIANICONLEGEND

It's just his way of saying "dirty one, twenty-one". You know, he is the "dirty one" and the "twenty-one" refers to someone else.
