First of all, he wraps his hair lol, you know those head scarfs he would wear in the early 90s during D&P, he sleeps with that to lay his sides down and protects the curls until they fall. Each day they fall more and then you get them redone, how do I know, because I had the same hairstyle

When you wrap your hair, you comb it to a particular side, pref your bang, this maintains our curls for the next days to come so that you don't put too much heat on your hair, so all that flatting your hair can't happen when you wrap your hair. With a flat iron we do that as well. Either way he sleeps as long as its locked in, a scarf, his hair is secure. Prince don't kill me for sharing your secrets lol!

This is wrapping your hair, and for short hair you do it at the top and wear that scarf on your sides.
