I generally tend to defend public persons, Prince or otherwise, because I have been one at some point (though it was at a much lesser level, I was kind of a local celebrity in a big city), and I was absolutely sick of all the false shit people who didn't even know me or ever spoke to me were saying about me. So sick that I actually withdrew from any kind of a public life as an artist outside of the internet. So I know how it feels to have strangers saying shit about you, and I generally try to discourage such behavior.

As for Prince, he is indeed only human, but everything I read about him (as well as most of what I've heard him say in both songs and interviews) tends to make me respect him a lot as... a human being. That doesn't mean I agree with everything (I was the first one to complain about the Lotusflow3r.com scam), but he's more than OK in my book, and who am I to judge whatever shit he's gone thru with his bandmembers, engineers of girlfriends when I wasn't even there?...

Except for the few real nutjobs, I think most of us "Prince Worshippers" know that he has plenty of significant faults and we definitely see him as human, what we see as superhuman is his talent. We believe that his gift is from God and that the music has a divine quality to it, much like looking at the Michaelangelo's sistene chapel.

Exactly most of the bands I grew up listening to have had membership changes or completely disbanded by now. There are a few exceptions but it's rare for the magic to last forever. We only hear part of the story on some 'Where Are They Now' type show and that could all just be spin to cover up what really happpened.

That's an excellent point. Those who seem to hold Prince to some otherworldly standard of perfection and altruistic behavior will continually be disappointed by the fact that he is merely human. Then the react so aggressively over situations that everyone encounters in life. Unless you know him personally (and I've yet to meet an orger who does) how can he truly disappoint you? Umm, no it didn't and I wish people would stop saying that. The site has NEVER been dedicated to Prince. For the umteenth time, this is what the founder of P.org says...

I’ve been saying since the site started that prince.org has nothing directly to do with Prince, but everything to do with the extremely diverse community that has grown out of past and present (and if he’s lucky, future) Prince fans.
