Remember the Le Grind site?

I used to get all my Prince news from Le Grind, daily. It had become this great funnel for news; then the borg assimilated them. You could still see Pierre Igot's newspage buried deep inside the NPG site somewhere but it was never easy to find, and I haven't seen it in ages.

It was right about the time Le Grind vanished that prince.org suddenly appeared...and I've been here ever since...and I don't even check the news anymore!

Pierre certainly got some stick from fans, the poor guy.

He did a great job, and maybe he was a bit over-zealous, but maybe that comes with the territory.

Oh, but don't you remember the rest of the story concerning Le Grind???

If I recall correctly, Mr Pierre went out and told or reported something on the website that wasn't cleared by "The Boss" and it all became a "legal" matter. Prince and/or his lawyers distanced themselves from Pierre/Le Grind and after that Pierre/Le Grind just sort of vanished.

I don't know the whole story, but I know there was a falling out and this was AFTER he had been assimilated.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pierre isn't one of those bitter members of Prince.org who always has something negative to say about Prince.

i was thinking about le grind at the weekend i can remember the quote from npg being something like "pierre Igot thinks so much like we do we want him to join us"

so they get him on board he shuts down his site a few months late hes gone what a great way to close down a site you dont want.

i wonder if prince.org had a similiar offer from npg, talk about drinking from the poison chalice.

I'm sure if Bart gets wind of this thread, he will detail the whole thing.

I remember visiting the site often, and then this editorial were Pierre Igot said he wasn't going to post negative reviews or something like that. I wasn't too interested in Le Grind after that.

Yup... Le Grind was a decent site. Pierre was a nice chap too... I spoke with him when I took over the old Emancipation mailing list... but at stage everyone was on PPML and the Org and no one was really bothered about another mailing list so we let it die.

I still have the archives, going back to 94 or 95 or whenever issue 1 came out.

Edit - yeah I remember that whole "joining the collective" BS when Pierre was doing the news bit of NPGMC (or L4OA, which it was). That was a shame.
