Forever in my life - recording of

Has anyone tried to re-record or remix the song with lead and background vocals in sync, as Susan Roger claims it was originally intended. If so - what does it sound like? It could be an interesting experiment to test the validity of the story.

The wooh is on the one!

well, they overlap, so that would be difficult to do in clean cut way.

I suppose it would be possible to re-record the parts?

It's actually not difficult to remix this the way it was "originally intended". I use Adobe Audition 3. Remove the center of 1 copy of the song, and then do the opposite to a 2nd copy, and then layer the two on top of each other. A few "ghosts" remain, but it's perfectly listenable. Odd tho, after nearly 25 years of hearing it the "wrong" way.

Keep your headphones on.

Because Prince obviously had no idea what he was doing in the first place. There should've been at least 4 orgers in the studio when it was recorded for executive approval.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

To check if the anecdote about the recording mishap actually makes (musical) sense. It could also give som interesting insight into the creative process.

Way back when music, photos, and videos would be posted on certain Prince fan-sites, someone actually shared an attempt at (fake)re-capturing the intended idea.

It was quite dull.

Prost!

I never really believed the story this was an accident: it was probably a little 'trick' to give the arrangement / sound of the song something extra. Its just a modern take on a canon. Prince is known for 'spicing up' his stories, you know...

The 'sound problems' on Dorothy Parker sound more like an happy accident to me.
