Prince/Red Hot Chili Peppers

Has Prince ever commented or had any interaction with the RHCP's? I ask because both acts came up in the 80's, have been around for many years now, are seriously talented musicians, and have made some of the best funk/rock music ever recorded. You'd think someone would have covered the other or a jam would have taken place by this point.

I like RHCP a lot, great music (some of it), but I don't think Prince likes them because of their drugs addictions.

(I am guessing here).

I have never heard Prince covering one of their songs, and I haven't heard him talking about them either, but..... maybe it did happen...?

Let others with hard facts comment on this. wink

Actually I think that was more in '91 or '92 and Prince was playing the whole album loud, and Anthony Kiedis said some of the tracks were great.

This might have been an article in Rolling Stone. Actually I might have it somewhere.

Does Prince put some gas in the air conditioning at Paisley which makes people lose their minds?

George Clinton is their mutual friend and co-producer from their early career, so there is no doubt if their roads have crossed or not. There are also many women who have been connected both to Prince and RHCP. Some of them are famous of their looks, some of them are well known musicians. Carmen Electra, Sinead O'Connor... Who else do you know? Funky attracts people with good sexual appetite.lol

Don't forget, Prince and the Chili Peppers were also on Warner Brothers in the '90s, so they probably would have run into each other a few times at the office, so to speak.

Yes, Diamonds and Pearls was just released when RHCP was signed to WB. Anyhow, Kiedis doesn't mention Prince in his memoires "Scar Tissue" so I suppose they were not that close we would like to think. Even mentally, the distance between Minnesota and California is too huge.

I clearly remember Prince saying he dug the chili peppers. Somewhere early/mid nineties.

He said P played him a 20mn version of D&P. He said it was epic. Unfortunately the motherfucker was cut down to a fewmn on the LP.
