Just Prince.

Over the years I've often listened to music that has some involvement with Prince, most of it having been talked about on these forum threads. However I'm now quite keen to admit that I find all of it as dull as dish water. Andy Allo? Not Prince. NPG? Still not Prince. FDeluxe? I'd rather poke frozen carrots in my eyes (cliched elevator music at best).

I love lots of different styles and bands yet when it comes to the Prince Involvement I'm afraid that there is no low-fat version that comes close. It's either him or nothing for me.

So does anyone else feel likewise? I often think ethnicity and home country play a big part in the music we like. So, I'm white, male, forty and live in a rural part of Middle England. I love Pink Floyd, Prince, the sound of the guitar, cups of tea with biscuits, Bill Bryson's self depreciating, dry and sometimes ironic sense of humour, cd's over mp3's and the rare video games that take you places and leave an imprint. Oh and I'm always in awe of how beautiful the world is.

Morning ramble over.

I don't know what to say...

When you drain a man's inspiration...U get what U get.

I love Prince's entire career of music.

It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

I am not saying Prince is completely drained...I'm sure this man is a drip for the rest of our lives.

There are many, many people who would agree that Prince is a drip. lol

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I'd have to say the opposite. For the longest time I've been fascinated and enjoyed the productions, side projects, off-shots and related artists, even when there's no direct Prince involvement. I'd say a good 60-70% of my favourite Prince music was not released by him (i.e. him singing).

This isn't really singular to Prince, I've always been interested in producers and writing teams, sometimes more so than the artist, or even in spite of them - and if I like something, I'm interested to see who these people are behind the curtain so to speak.

I find the whole process of putting together a project like this fascinating - from that initial idea, to having the right performers, matching the material to these personas and putting it altogether in a package and mythos - that's Vanity 6 and The Time right there. cool
