Some Times I just Love Prince Fans OK so today I had an amazing day
I went to a record fair and found a guy getting rid of his old bootlegs, It was a cardboard box on the side of his stall and hand written on it was Personal Prince collection.
So I look inside and there is a copy of the City Lights Box Set with the gold card wrap around and 11 discs and tons of other stuff. So I asked expecting it to be like 100 pounds or something but he said it was 50 pounds (in fantastic condition, not a mark on the discs)
If that wasn't enough he had the Glam Slam (north/east/west) box set for 30 pounds (all silvers)
We had another chat, He told me he was at the Camden Lovesexy Aftershow and I told him I went to all 21 nights and aftershows and he threw in loads and loads of others (again all silvers) for 5 or 10 pounds ....
Loose x1 disc (mid ninties outtakes)
He just said I'm glad the're going to a good home you'll obviously love them.
I ended up with a huge stack of great boots most of them ending up virtualy free

You can also be amazing and generous. Give some of that to me, then I'll start a thread about your kindness and generosity.

I'm not insanely jealous at all. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Very cool I have a few of those titles still from back in the day. Never did get my hands on City Lights though 50 quid is an absolute steal if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

Nice one
You know I would in a second but alas I wouldn't want this site to be closed down for Soliciting unofficial or bootleg material

Good thing it was 50 pounds, then.

Nice buy.
If it were me, I would sell the whole lot (individually) on ebay, original pressed boots can make a fortune on there. I should know.

I don't think my trip to the local record fair today was quite so fruitful, there were only 3 Prince records there and he was desperate to get rid of them. There was the When doves cry original single with 17 days as b-side, a record called chocolate box and a record called Sex Machine. I bought them all for 15 quid hoping I'd got lucky and got a couple of gems, but having read some of the threads on chocolate box, maybe I shouldn't have bothered! Oh well, 15 quid for 3 records aint bad I suppose.

I love Chocolate Box it's one of my favourite vinyl boots. I guess that's because it was one of my first.
You did really good to get Sex Machine or Chocolate box for anywhere under 15 each so consider your day a success. If only for having Movie Star and All Day All Night on vinyl

Chocolate box is pretty obsolete these days to be fair. Ropey quality and all tracks now available in far superior versions. if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

Indeed, replaced by things like the wonderful "Box Of Chocolates" release by FBG.
Still, having that original vinyl is a nice thing to have.

Cheers guys, it's the start of my vinyl collecting days, so to know I've began with a decent bargain is good to know.

Vinyl boots like Chocolate Box are certainly superseded by more recent bootlegs, but they are truly appealing. They are a part of Prince history, whether he likes it or not. Who knows, maybe with the vinyl resurgence we are living, we could have quality vinyl boots again in the future? Maybe a bit of wishful thinking on my side, but I don't think it can be totally discarded.

I've heard a lot about this city lights boot since coming on the org. What is it exactly? [Edited 9/25/11 2:29am]

Let's hope it will also happen with Prince. I don't know if the vinyl renaissance is strong enough for that, but let's hope so.

As much as enticing as it is to have boots; I believe the artist should be paid for their work. just MHO...But congrats Prince's Sarah

I never felt guilty about buying some illegal stuff. Besides, most people who buy boots also buy his official records. And third, if he wants to get paid, open up the vault!
