Is Prince headed Down Under?

According to the Courier Mail, Prince is supposed to play The Star casino in Sydney, Australia sometime in October.

WITH Thursday night's industry re-launch of The Star, formerly known as Star City, behind us, talk turned to the the next big opening party in October at which pop icon Prince is tipped to perform.

You can read the entire article here even though it doesn't supply any additional information.

So is this merely a rumor or is P headed to Oz? Anyone have any info?

I've seen a few other articles about Star that mention his name and there was a thread about it here a little while ago.

Stevie Wonder is now confirmed, but to my knowledge is only doing the Star gig in Sydney (2000 seats, tickets start from $500) - I'm hoping he'll do something in Melbourne while he's in the country, but no news yet.

The article that confirmed about Stevie still mentioned Prince as a possibility, but I've heard nothing solid and, as the date draws closer, it seems less likely (although it is Prince, aka Captain Last Minute, so fingers are still tightly crossed).

In any case, if he does make it down under, I'd say the ticket prices will be comparable to Stevie's, so we'd all best start searching under cushions, etc... especially the interstaters...

...or we could just pickpocket Trump while he's here wink

I'm not convinced this Casino show is legit. What is this, like the third newspaper that's reported it? Yet it seems the only source was someone saying that he "might" be playing - in other words, they probably asked him and that's all there is to the story. Hey Prince - play at my house! ... Wow, he hasn't answered yet, so we can't say that he won't play!! It's probably just a well put together rumor to bring attention to the venue.

But anyway, of course I'd like to think that there will be a tour later on. Summer Festivals 2011/2012 - come on Princey!!

Yeah. Byron Blues Fest would be the best. I saw Maceo down there a couple of years ago. This is the perfect venue/crowd/vibe for the funk.

I usually skip on Blues Fest, but, it would be perfect for Prince, I can definitely see it!

I really hope so. Because if he is playing down under, that means he will come to Hong Kong on the way in or the way out....

It's already been confirmed that Stevie Wonder will most definitely be playing at the same venue at the end of next month. I was really looking forward to going, especially since I missed out the last time he was here. However, the tickets are priced at $500, $750 and $800. eek

Obviously nothing has been confirmed so far, but I really hope that Prince will charge people a much more reasonable amount if he actually decides to play there... then again it cost me about $400 when he toured back in '03..... although that was through the NPG Music club, so I got preferred seats and what not, which means that the price was fair in hindsight. Still, I hope I won't have to pay so much!!!!
