5 women

Anybody into this song? I rediscovered it yesterday and it's got a bit of "Dorothy Parker" feel to it, which I like. The guitar 'solo' is nice too.

I love that song, it's honestly one of my all time favourite songs. It was originally wriiten 4 Joe Cocker who did a half decent version on his "Night Calls" album but I prefer Princes. smile

Love it. Sorely underrated track. Great guitar playing. The addition of Clare Fisher strings gives it a unique touch.

I much prefer Extraordinary. 5 Women sounds like it could have been sung by anyone. But Extraordinary is a classic Prince ballad in the vein of Scandalous and Adore.

It was originally released by Joe Cocker so maybe it wasn't meant for Prince in the first place. cool

I know but maybe he wrote it with no intention of releasing it himself and intending to give it away as with many songs he wrote.

Great song from a great album. Cool nod to BB King in the song, too.

It is decent, I can really hear Joe singing it (never heard his version though)

Prince is a fine singer, but doesn't have the bluesiest voice. I feel like his version goes on a bit long, but a different singer could certainly tear it up.

Extraordinary is amazing! I can't even wonder why it wasn't released when it was written. Love the live performances of it. Thank God it found a life on the Vault CD.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Joe's version is fantastic. My Dad is a huge Joe Cocker fan, and I remember being delighted when my Dad pointed out that Prince had written song a song on Joe's new album back in '92.

Just checked this out because of this thread. Hey! Great song! Again, it's so different and unexpected from what you'd think Prince songs are supposed to be. I like that it tells a story, in a country or blues tradition. He sings it well, but I think it suits Joe Cocker well.
