What is her appeal? I had always skipped her appearance on the Las Vegas dvd... this is my first time listening to her. Just annoyed me...

Very cool.

I wish she actually sang a song instead of riffing off Thank You for Talkin to Me Africa, but still good stuff.

Nikka is actually very cool when she does her own thing. That said I'm scared to hit play. Every time someone else is onstage with Prince, I get nervous for them. Some like Mary J. held their own but I don't know about Nikka. So I'll pass.

Wise choice. Mary J. more than held her own with Prince when I saw them at the Forum.

Not funky at all. Just a meandering jam while Prince and the band ACTS like they're playing funky. Couldn't even make it through the whole video.

Interesting...I had to go back to take a second look after reading your post. She holds her own, but he doesn't seem all that interested in any duet. . He also ended the jam rather abruptly. I've not seen him in concert, so have no idea...maybe how that was done is not that unusual.

Can't see FB from my work computer. I'll have to check it out at home. Nikka's singing definitely reminds me of Janis Joplin.

Is there such a thing as a band being too tight? I mean the band plays so perfect it's almost sterile.

The band is great and I know I shouldn't complain, but it just leaves me cold.

I thought it was good too luv. I think she was channeling Prince's inner sexy. She had some dance moves suggestive of what I'll call funk and grind, and vocally she reminded me Janis as well. Yep. It was good.
