Does Prince enjoy himself in concert?

Or , can you make the difference between the times he is just a professional performer who entertains his audience, and times when he seems to have fun on stage?

Watching him in person in Feb, he seemed to be enjoying himself a whole lot. And reading the reviews of all the shows before & after, it seemed like it truly was one of the better shows, and an hour longer than most, so yeah I think he really was.

I am a musician, so what i see with Prince is that maybe in the beginning of a show he might think "oh, lord, another show" but once he gets loosened up my guess is he enjoys it nearly every time, unless there is some sound issue or he is not feeling well

Once the music starts, it's hard to not enjoy yourself

I think Prince does not really know how to live a life without making music and being validated in front of thousands of people.

Its his blessing and his curse. That is why he can't give up the old hits. The energy of playing those songs in front of people is what makes him feel alive.

I agree-unless something goes wrong-he enjoys it.

I was just gonna say. The world is a good place until the sound guy screws up or his guitar is out out tune. Otherwise Prince seems to be havung the time of his life.

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,

He usually does unless a bunch of fools have their cameras in his face or the sound guy is screwing up or is there's people smoking pot near the stage... Otherwise, he seems to love performing, but I've seen him get aggravated many times...

From the live videos coming across the wires; it seems as though he is in the right frame of mind of having fun.

There's some 1984 rehearsal footage floating around, and I can see a difference b/t those and his actual performances, where he doesn't seem to be just going through the motions. But those rehearsals are still better than some acts concerts, which shows how good he is at what he does.

I'm just amazed by how he (and some others) can perform night after night, sometimes for half a year, sing the same song for the millioneth time, and still convey the joy & excitement. It's remarkable! I think they REALLY LOVE what they do, or else you can't do it for 20, 30 yrs. Heck, I wish I could create music and share it w/ the world too - what an awesome job!

I agree with that .

Must of the times , I think like you do, that it's his way to feel alive...

But sometimes I think he really loves money, or just the life money buys him, and he uses this "old hits energy" to that matter. And it's not a problem; it's his job..But does it reflects in his performance? The audience seems to have fun , EVERY TIME, but somehow, I need to know that he is too..

Can you tell more about that? When, why, how?
