My ATWIAD disk sounds like garbage Pulled out this made in Japan CD in cardboard slipcase from original 1985 issue and took it to a friend's house. He is an audiophile, who prefers good vinyl over mediocre CD audio, and doesn't know much Prince other than Purple Rain. I thought I'd wow him with this masterpiece, so we put on the disk and...to my chagrin, the sound is tinny, cold and compressed compared to the other things we were playing. Huge disappointment. He even made a face and said, "now this sound like a CD..in a bad way".

Yeah. The CD's are in dire need of remastering. If your friend is an audiophile and you want to impress him with the album, you'll need the vinyl. |

moderatorI personally don't think the ATWIAD disc sounds that bad compared to the others. It has its dynamics here and there, but the entire catalog from 1978-1989 needs remastering. I don't think they can do much with the Lovesexy and Batman albums since they were mixed digitally. Check me out and add me on:
