I can sort of relate to what the originator of this thread is saying. His latest stuff is nowhere near as filled with gems as his old stuff but is that really news? I don't think so. I'll still buy it because any album P puts out still has the potential to be a masterpiece.

Lotusflower/MPLSound for example are both, in my opinion, epic as fuck.

I would have thought that if a disillusioned fan was to look at it purely using the law of averages, they'd come to the opposite conclusion - ie. that he's due.

I really hope Prince will never release any CD ever again just for the pleasure to frustrate all those who are already looking forward to trashing him just for the sake of trashing him.

I eagerly await his next album; only because of who he is. Yeah, I've been less than impressed with a last few of his albums (mplssound/20ten) but when the man puts his heart into it, he can make an amazing statement(Lotusflow3r), so I'm not disillusioned.

Exactly.

I tend to find that with these people, these kind of opinions say more about them and their own state of mind than about Prince and his output.

I think it'll be an old school funk effort. Real music by real musicians. The problem is, will he have the tunes to make it a great record? I have my doubts.

What I tend to do is get his CDs from the library and if I like it....then I'll buy it. I never blindly purchase CDs in the hopes that I will like it. So, until it comes out, I can't really judge it until I hear it.
