A 1 disc set wouldnt have been enough for sure. There were too many good songs on there BUT, the fact that it was a 3 cd sprawl, means that everyone dismisses it as a mess. If you take the 4 cds prince put out that year (Emancipations and C&D), you've plenty good enough songs to make a briliant 2 disc set, or a very good 3 disc set.
As per usual though, it a case of quantity over quality, the story of princes career since 1992. I of course would rather have all the songs he makes so I can make my own decisions about which I like, but this isnt what the critics or the mainstream want. If u think that back in the day prince would shave the 16 tracks he may have down to a ten song album suitable for vinyl, now he puts them all on a cd. Hence all the old songs he has that've never been released.

Rave could've been a very good album if it was 11/12 songs and track order was rearranged somewhat.

And yet... then everyone would be clamorring for the release of all of the "unreleased" tracks that were recorded for Emanciption, and everyone would be gobbling up the outtakes. I recognize that sometimes an album would benefit from the deletion of some tracks (like RAVE), but there's also a side of me that rebels against the notion of Prince holding anything back... because inevitibly, I want as many Prince tracks as possible to be released... even the likes of Hot Wit U.
