PRINCE TO PLAY BIG DAY OUT IN AUSTRALIA IN 2012?

http://www.triplem.com.au...-e2bz.html

Australian radio station Triple M are reporting that Prince met with BDO organisers in Europe recently about playing next year!! (see link above) eek

Aside from the fact that big festivals often start this one to generate interest etc, is any one else down under hoping that he might use BDO as an opportunity to reward his very loyal aussie fans with a loooooooong over due visit?!!! razz

Anyways, thought you might like to know.......

God I hope not. I don't want to be surrounded by bored teenagers waiting for whatever dreadful band they're really there to listen to.

I don't mind if he plays there or not as long as it isn't exclusive and he can't do any other shows...

He does seem to be in festival mood these days so who knows !

Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

I hope he plays in Australia, but not at a festival. I don't want to have to listen to other artists.

Exactly. Forget casual fans, you're going to have a bunch of teens/young people who don't even know any of the songs...

god no please don't let it be true

the big day out is horrrrrrrrible... i could not bear to have to see prince there.. it is a ridiculous thought.. it would just be wrong.. wrong on so many levels.. but true this is prince and stranger things have happened.. i want to see him do his own show

but the organisers usually make the headliners sign a contract forbidding them from doing their own sideshows - thus forcing the headliner's fans to HAVE to attend the BDO to see them!

i will cry if this is true! sad

this is actually the second rumour of prince playing oz i've heard lately

afew months back there was talk of an offer put to prince, or his 'people', for him to come down here and play at the opening launch of the new revamped star city casino.. but that just happened the other week... so looks like he turned that down flat

maybe he is planning a tour but shopping for the right time/opportunity?

What is Big Day Out? And why are you all complaining about it?

An Australian/Asian tour sounds logical. He hasn't been there a while, has he? And Andy and the band haven't seen that side of the world yet, right? So, maybe with a little time between concerts for some sight-seeing-trips and BBQ's sounds nice.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

sounds like a much more definite no with Soundgarden being headliners and i read also that they posted some update saying that no acts starting with a P or an R will be headlining (Prince, Pearl Jam and Radiohead)

soooooooooooooo, just come do a tour man! smile

I guess if he does come to Australia all Aussies should definitely go, because if we look at history then we can probably infer that he'll never be back here again.

So it's Kanye headlining BDO after all.

Prince, you need to do a show in Australia.

Long live the Opera House Dream.................!
