If I met Prince I wouldn't even know what to say other than, "I love your music," and, "Do U wanna go get a pizza or something?"

It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

I've met him twice now. He was as cool as you would imagine. I used to go to so many shows that I think he started recognizing me. He is a very small man off-stage. Probably the shortest adult I have ever seen. In person he literally looks like a doll that has come to life. I had to fight the urge to pick him up.

I never met him but I guess he started to recognize me at his shows or something, I made him give me big eyes and laugh when he was doing I would die for you on the piano because I was spinning around and circles and doing spirit fingers lol. From that observation, he does have a sense of humor indeed.

At another show my friend was drunk and hanging on to the rails, we were really close up, and she was dancing off beat horribly off beat! throwing her hair up, the lights were on and I was trying not to laugh so I kept looking away laughing, and when I looked up he was on our side and he started laughing but tried to play it off too. lol

He's goofy, I can tell you that! I can imagine him saying again uh oh! "too many trips to the bar!"

Why meet Prince?

It would be a stretch to say that I'd met him, but the closest I came was at the Forum Club in LA back in May. I'd made it into an afterparty and, although he did not play an aftershow that night, he did come down and speak briefly to DJ Rashida.

Security was tight, but I saw an momentary opportunity and I took it. As he walked past me, I said "Thank you so much" quietly in his ear and he nodded in acknowledgement.

I find it interesting that whenever I've shared this with anyone, almost without exception the first question has been about his height/size. Honestly, in that moment, it was the furthest thing from my mind. I don't recall thinking he was particularly short or small or anything.

I just remember being so grateful for the opportunity to thank him for his music, which is always what I thought would be my first priority if I ever got the chance to speak to him.

That...and his very, very sparkly ear cuff wink

So the experience was, all in all...shiny.

I met Prince in 2002, it took about 17 secs,

here, told for the 117th time:

Here it is again. "My short meeting with Prince",
after the aftershow at Vega Copenhagen 2002.... (yes I was there and it was excellent..!),

Me and some friends went outside a few minutes after the show ended (maybe half an hour?). We turned around a corner and a big white limousine was just passing us,

I have never seen such a big car like that in Denmark, it was huuuge.

and, in it was Prince himself in the backseat: he made the limo stop and rolled down the window, then he looked at us, and asked in his deep voice:

"Was it too loud"??

We were all amazed, and stumbled (is that the right word?).. anyway we mumbled or shouted back something like: "No No No... it was great".

Prince must have been satisfied with the answer, cuz he rolled up his window and the limo droved away out into the night of Copenhagen. He was gone...

It all happened really quickly, I guess it all took about 10, maybe 20 seconds,

a really nice experience, we laughed and had a great time, talking about this little "happening"..... biggrin

ps. I have told this little story a few times already on housequake.com - and here on the Org already, too. Memories....

This is similar to my feelings after meeting him. I didn't think that either but every time I tell people they're like "He's really short, right?" - but it didn't cross my mind at all when I was talking to him.

my friends dad is a comedian who over the years has been Very close with Prince. dont want to say his name but if u all guessed 5 comedians who prince has been close with im sure u all would put him on the list. anyways i was a senior in hs he took my friend and i to Vegas when prince had the Rio rented out for that period of time. we first went to his restaurant and i believe mike phillips was just playing. we sat down at our booth and ordered. maceo came in first and said hi to us and took a picture with the comedian i wont name lol. then prince came walking in with rhonda and i forget who else but it was members of the band... he came to our table and the comedian said wow you really did something with this place and prince said "dude tell me about it" and i remembered being shocked about how he said the word dude lol....but i remember thinking how cool he was and to me he didnt seem that short to me...i mean he is short but not to the point where everyone needs to make fun of it non stop..... anyways he shook all of our hands and then went into the next room and listened to his band play and we all walked over and watched....

after that we went to his concert, the concert was awesome and really long.. we had leave early because we had to fly back to california for school the next day.. so we are at the airport in the morning and a guy comes up and says to the comedian "how did it feel for prince to dedicate purple rain to you" and we were all really upset because we didnt get a chance to see that cuz we left early. but a great experience!
