What makes you a die-hard fan? I love nearly every last bit of Prince's music, but I wouldn't consider myself a die-hard fan because I really couldn't care less about what's going on in his personal life/his non-musical history/what he looks like right now, etc. It just doesn't interest me, there's no particular reason why, it just doesn't.
So, I guess my question is, what made YOU a die-hard fan? What was it about the purple one that made you want to know what his mother's best friend's sister's cousin's uncle's second wife Freda's dog's name was? What endeared him to you (on a non-musical tip)?

It's always sad to see a thread without a single reply...
Just writing these few lines to bring you back to the top. Well, didn't we get 2473 similar threads already? What made me a die-hard fan? I'm not... "Little? Yeah, right... It might be little but it's loud"

his music!! his music is absolutely fabulous.. thats it.. i dont know too much about what he eats for dinner, how long it takes him to wite a song or what he likes/dislikes.. what i know about him is only what i can interpret in his lyrics.. i dont have time to sit around on the net for hours and hours digging for info on where to buy his toe nail clippings (eeew!)
id much rather have it this way than know every single detail about him.. i dont think p likes it when people can tell him his own life story.. i mean, what if u met him one day, what would u say? u'd thank him of course.. butu then what.. "ooh, i love it when u did this back in '84 & oooh, & u know that fab dance move u did in'93, & ooh ooh.. wait.. when u.." u get the pic.. (?) ID JUST FREAKIN LET THE MAN BRAG!!!

and he has the classiest male fans 4 ajd Everything about him talks to me - his intellect, sensuality, use of words in his songwriting, his eyes and ass - I love his idiosyncrasies - and most of all his passion about everything he does, I may not always agree but I love the passion WHO ME?

Eh...I wouldn't say I'm die hard, but I have gained some interest in him as a person recently. After reading interviews and such, he just kind of grew on me like some sort of weird funky mold.

2 things:
1.) He made a formidable impression on me at a pivotal stage of my life - when I was seeking my own identity and coming to grips with my sexuality. 2.) NOBODY is better or can do as many things musically; at least nobody i've ever heard. No one challenges my tastes and my intellect like he does, and has, for the past 20 years.

...Damn for me that's kind of hard. For me, I guess it's when I heard him play the Let's Go Crazy solo at the end of the song. That killed me. But when I saw him do it live during the Purple Rain tour, I was blown away into the next week! Keep in mind I was a kid back then and this was my first concert ever. Ever since then, I learned to hear music, to feel it, and to respect it instead of just listening to it. He opened my ears to music. All of it. Plus all the fine beautiful women I saw back then, I said, "I'm gonna hang around this m*thaf*cka!" I was young but I wasn't THAT young.[b] "I ordered no broth!
