It sounds more like Sexuality or Sister than those others you mentioned. Tamborine is also similar in it's furiousness. That is serious xxx New Wave could have worked easily on Dirty Mind or Controversy

ya, it would go on dirty mind but when i compared i meant music wise wich it is:)

Not jealous are you? wink Well he came up with those facts/info so I figured maybe if he has the wide Prince knowledge he should consider it. Per has even said that he would assist anyone willing to take over the tasks or doing a follow up to DMSR by providing all the info he has...

Not True...read the posts by Militant above, this was done in 1981 and was an outtake from the Controversy sessions. I agree it sounds 1980/ Dirty Mind ish but was recorded later...

The story goes that "The Rock" was a new dance craze happening in early-to-mid 1981, and Prince wanted to the put the song out as a one-off single to capitalize on it, but Warner Bros said no. By the time the album was finished and ready to release in the fall, the craze had passed and so Prince decided to change the lyrics and title.

That's an interest factoid....smile You may have to take the reins over from Per who is looking for someone to take over his work!

Is he?

I did talk to Per a while back. And truthfully, I have considered it. I don't think he's actually "looking for someone" so to speak, more so that if anybody WANTS to do something of their own accord, he might help them out somewhat.

Anyone with access to pricevault.com and a couple of Per's books can come up with "wide Prince knowledge" like that.

I think maybe the best people to take over from Per's work would be the other people who actually worked on those books/Uptown mag with him.

Or maybe someone like Boris, and/or the princevault team.

Per told me that he had no interest in continuing with his Prince work, which is a shame, an updated version of The Vault book, written by the original people would be a fantastic resource.

Other books have tried, but they don't come close (imo).

Yes, agreed. I just wish someone could persuade him to finish up until today, although it is a MAMMOTH task....

Digi, would you consider it?

What about Boris has anyone suggested it to him?

Hell no!

All the knowledge I have is from books etc, compared to someone like Boris i'm a piss in the ocean.

I have no idea if anyone has suggested it to Boris or not.

Yeah? Why so funny? The hour length unheard Fink interview I'm sitting on is a great start, no?

You have such a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG tongue that I'm sure you can lick your own arse (apart from Prince's).

Why the need to have such a (false) uber-high concept of yourself? Why the need to wank to the mirror?

You're MILES away from what is needed to write a serious research 'a-la-Uptown'.

And you can sit on your Fink interview or wipe your arse with it. I don't care about that.

Try to grow up. I know it's asking too much for you, but try to grow up.

Your failure to reply to my point is indicative of the fact that you are talking complete and utter shit - which you likely already know. So allow me to repeat myself - you have literally no idea how many "miles away" I may or may not be of what is needed. None. You know nothing about me. Everybody on this entire board knows that your modus operandi is to try and shit on as many people and their parades as possible. So I (just like everyone else here) am unable to take you seriously. Try harder next time. Toodles!

stupidity.

As always, you have a very faint idea of what you're talking about.

^ Now, now children....why don't you both write a proposal to Per Nilsen asking to take over the completion of DMSR: 1989-2011 and see which one he accepts, that will decide the argument!

Well, I for one takes Vitriol seriously in this case, so please don't include me in your "everybody else here.

I would fear an Prince bio from your hands might risk suffering from your ego overshadowing Prince's.

That's a pretty pointless thing to say, since you assume that there would be a similarity between the writing style of a DISCUSSION forum and the fact-reporting style of a book. Which is completely illogical.

Fact is, anyone with the a) passion, b) time and c) commitment could do it. All the information is out there to be collated, cross referenced and reported. It doesn't require a black belt in the mystical martial art of being a Prince fan razz

But as usual, the elitists think they know better. Ah well. Funny how people always say "oh i can't be bothered to reply" when the truth is, they got made to look foolish and simply DON'T have a reply. El Oh El.

I don't know if you are referring to me or Vitriol, but I personally base my opinion on the manner in which you seem full of yourself both here, on your twitter, google+ and tumblr pages.

So, for me, I would very much like to read a Prince book with personality, not a fact-report. If someone managed to make a fact-reporting book, I would therefore hope it also showed the author's personality. Hence my comment above.

I liked this version much better than the GB version. Same goes for early version of We can Funk. The original Tick Tick Bang always reminded me of Devo's song Uncontrollable Urge in its franticness, music and lyrics.
