How many are FAKE fans?

I have to admit some things about myself. It's time to get it of my chest and out of the closet.

I don't have the 'purple rain' cd, nor the '1999'. I do have many of his cd's, however I don't know the exact number. I can't shout out the right name of a Prince song when I hear the first tunes. As a matter of fact, I oftentimes love a song, however, don't know the name. I do have some bootlegs, and other 'fan' material.

However, I don't know all his bandmembers by name, not his current, let alone all throughout history.

I went to several concerts, in Holland, Belgium, NY and London.

I do love listening to his music, which I do, 1 or 2 times a week. His voice has a very soothing effect on me. Because, to me, it's so familiar and during endless crises I have listened to his music and heard his voice. His voice has a very strong effect on me.

The same for my cat. My cat loves classical music and Prince. The rest, he can handle with an annoyed look on his face or he walks away, leaving, with a killer look at me, or starts miauwing until I change the music.

I think he's a great musician, and as a human he has flaws. Just like the rest of us.

There. I said it. I'm just a fake fan.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I didn't want to come across as too normal. That would make me suspicious, wouldn't it?

let me guess, DJJ:

you don't own the 1999 and Purple Rain cd's, because you weren't around back then, isn't that so?

--- if you were a fan like I was back then in 1983-84 you just had to own these albums. On LP vinyl that is, the cd's came around later. (My first Prince cd was Sign O The Times in 87).

wink

wink lol

I had them on tape. However, they'r lost. I do have a lot of cd's and other material wink

However, somehow, I never bought those cd's. Eventhough, I do have some obscure cd's lol

And I do have the cd 'For you', however, it's scratched heavily. I need to replace it.

I'll put them on my christmas list for this year.

hmmm I don't believe you.

However, I do have a single released for the Asian/Australian market with a long version of "Solo" on it, it's one of my favorite songs. You really think I would be considered a REAL fan? I mean, I do lack factual knowledge big time. wink

Well, then my cat is a fan too.

He really loves to listen to Prince music. Relaxes his whole body on the couch and his ears are going back and forth as soon as he hears P. True.

My son must be a real fan too, because "Bob George" has that effect on him. He's seven weeks old.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

My cat, may he RIP, used to like when I played Prince music too. It's because they sense your mood at the time and they like it.

But shame on you and Nursey for not owning more cds... chair

Just kidding, but I agree wholeheartedly about his voice. It kinda feels like I've been listening to him for centuries...like I'm tuned in to his frequency or something. lol

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Real fans sleep below his window and stitch him cloud shaped pillows...

Real fans send him naked pictures so that he can see that we have completely covered

our undeserving bodies with images of him and symbols that he promotes

Real fans send him videos where we dance to his music and scream his lyrics in a high

pitched voice. Solidarity bitches, solidarity

Real fans know what he eats before he decides to eat it

Real fans show up to his concerts and present him with CDs full of his music that we have

remade for him

Real fans save their virginity for Prince and change religions whenever he does

Real fans have two copies of everything he ever released, one opened, and one in mint condition

Real fans have AT LEAST one restraining order against them…we also know that we are Fams

because the term "fan" makes Prince feel uncomfortable...kind of like cotton, underwear, and time.

lol lol

What a cool cat you have! I consider myself a fan even though I dont have many bootlegs or all the albums. Anyone who spends a fortune to go to more than one show & have floor seats & can sing along to most of the songs is a fan I think.

I respect him and his sound is often emulated, and have liked him since about 1986, but I'm a casual fan. I don't feel I need to own all of his albums though I wish to own some of the tours, especially LoveSexy. I don't have all of his albums and he has his share of albums I like, and the ones I didn't care for upon listening. I have:

For You

Prince

1999

Purple Rain

Around the World In a Day

The Hits 1

The Hits 2

Chaos & Disorder

New Power Soul

Musicology

3121

Planning to get Diamonds & Pearls soon, and maybe the one with Pussy Control if I like it.

But don't get me wrong, some songs from the albums I don't have are some of his best ever. These include Alphabet Street, The Greatest Romance Ever Sold, Sign O The Times, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Controversy, Thieves in the Temple
