Condorcet Album Poll: The Truth-Final Results Available

Hi again:

Condorcet Album Poll: The Truth.

This is the next installment in a series of polls ranking the songs on each album officially released by Prince or O+>. The goal of this project is to determine which tracks should be included in a final poll to determine the overall top 25 Prince songs in the opinion of his fans.

For those of you who haven’t been following the polls, these are different than the usual “best song” threads in that they combine the preferences of all the voters into an overall list.

I am going through these in the same order that they were ranked in the earlier poll of the best Prince albums. Now's the time of The Truth, published in 1998.

Please don’t discuss the preliminary results or campaign for your favorite song(s) until the poll is closed. I plan to close the poll on Tuesday, but I may close it early if the preliminary results are discussed on this site. This is to make sure the poll is as accurate as possible.

Click here to vote in the current poll:

It's a pretty stinky album, guys. Cheesy ballads, workman-like blues, blatant preachiness, used condoms and dolphin sounds? There are two tracks here I'd throw into rotation on a Prince mix, but the rest I'd sprinkle on my houseplants to encourage growth in the cold winter months.

The poll is now closed. Don't Play Me is the winner.

I confess I had to listen to this record again in order to vote, since I didn't remember the majority of the songs. I did it, and I think I'll have forgotten the tunes once again soon, as they don't make an impact on me.

I think Circle Of Amour and Dionne (yes, Dionne!) are lost gems. I like some other parts of the record, but, in my opinion, is quite forgetable.

I haven't impulsed participation a lot this time, as I've been too busy crying Nadal's defeat in the US Open. Anyway, 47 votes is quite good, especially considering the record that was the object of the poll. Thank you! wink

Dionne is a lost gem. Very surprised it ranked so low here, considering the forgetable improv surrounding it. Don't Play Me is fun, but not really memorable. Welcome 2 the Dawn, again, is a solid song. The rest.... ehhhh.....
