Crimson And Clover Revisited... I was not a fan of this track when it first came out... But i've been delving into my immense collection. And pulled it out and gave it an honest listen... And it's a really really good cover.
I think the my main gripe with it was I was comparing it with the Shondells and Joan jetts version. Which is the WRONG thing to do. Every cover should be treated as an individual work. i wasnt a fan of the wild thing interpolation, but It kinda grew on me. And as an individual work, it's a pretty amazing fucking song
From a recording standpoint its one of P's ,most beautifully recorded songs. The drum sound is incredibly lush sounding. And the flanging and tremolo effect on the rhythm guitars and vox, actually make sense from a production view.
I mean I'm liking this more than Joan's version... A lot... which is shocking to me... But in a battle Prince totally smokes her.
This is a great song...

I like his live arrangement too where it gets all monstrous epic before the pause and stop phrases. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

It's always been in my top 3 LOtUSFLOW3R tracks from the moment that album was released. I'm loving the current arrangement with the Waiting In Vain lyrics sung by Andy Allo.

I don't know why comparing it to other versions is a problem. It holds up just as well.

I'd call it one of his finest album moments of the last ten years. I especially enjoy how his playing is a little sloppy on those first few chords. It's like, "don't give a crap, let's rock..."
