I like how he wrote WDC and Wally alone. I like the fact that there is a constitutional amendment outlawing banning of lascivious art. I like Princes sweet spot, some of his 1980's soft-core pornography music, such as the cheap iano of If The Kid Cant make You Come or Chili Sauce and others, opening your CD's as tangible objects and not downlaoded ones ons Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I like long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

Here are some of mine:

Dirty Mind isnt a masterpiece, its a good album. Prince first masterpiece was 1999.

It was a mistake of Prince by singing the rock-tracks on his earlier albums in falsetto. It sounded like Sylvester was fronting Reo Speedwagon or Foreigner.

Diamonds and Pearls is his best album from the nineties: take away the corny rap / hip-hop influenced songs Daddy Pop, Jughead and Push and you have a collection of more traditional, but very well composed and written songs, bookended by two longer, more experimental tracks. Style- and soundwise its also more diverse then the Gold Experience.

Glam Slam is one of his best popmelodies from the eighties.

I wish U heaven is filler.

The Vault.. old friends for sale and Chaos and Disorder are better albums then Emancipation, New Power Soul and Rave.

Come is one of the worst Prince albums in terms of songwriting and production. Its full with uninspired, formulaic material.

Anotherloverholenyohead sounds out of place on Parade: it should have been replaced with 'All my dreams'

I never really cared for The Time and Mazerati. I like some of the the singles from the Time, but on their albums there are quite a lot of jams that go nowhere, along with some very corny ballads. Mazerati were plain mediocre and cheesy sounding.

All the midnights in the world is one of his better songs from the '00's.

I love Prince, but sometimes I feel like some of his music sounds cheezy, as an artist I can accept that about some of work, my babies lol very few songs sound cheezy, but they do exist.

lol well, here are a few more I've come up with:

-I don't like 'Joy In Repitition'

-I vote 'Old Friends 4 Sale' to replace 'Anotherlover...' on Parade

-Here is a complete listing of Prince songs I absolutely can't stand: Daddy Pop, The Continental, God [vocal], Dead On It, Scarlet Pussy, Laydown, Rich Friends (this is the #1 worst) ... ill

-The Tony M. and Mayte[?] part of 'Love 2 The 9s' completely destroys the song for me.

-I find 'Hot Thing' kinda annoying, and usually skip it when listening to SOTT

-I don't like Prince's tastes in female vocalists.. this includes Wendy and Lisa, and of course the awful Shelby J. I hope it doesn't sound sexist, but I just don't think female singers work well in Prince songs. Rosie was alright, though.

-With the exception of 'Electric Intercourse' and 'Moonbeam Levels', I've yet to hear a really great song leaked from 'The Vault'

-I don't think Prince is as great of a live performer as some people make him out to be.. and for as much as he talks about other people's bands, I think his current one sucks..

-I consider the Lovesexy and Nude tours to be perhaps his worst.

-I barely listen to Lovesexy. Don't hate it, but it's among my least played Prince albums

...

This is a disgrace I'm through with this thread!!!!. The most offensive to me is 'I've yet to hear a really great song leaked from 'The Vault'.

I maintain some of his best work is officially unreleased.

  1. I believe he wears a wig/toupee/weave, and has for a LONG time.
  2. His writing fell off noticeably, when Wendy & Lisa were no longer part of the picture.
  3. His lead guitar sound is nothing compared with his 1980s sound.
  4. I believe his ex-girlfriend -- the one who sued over merchandise lol -- about his, um, proclivities.
  5. I believe Sinead O'Connor.
  6. I believe way too many of his fans make excuses for his bad behavior.
  7. That said, I believe he's extremely unreliable

somebody should change the topic title to Unpopular Prince Opinions, Again or something like that. Just because most here would disagree with your opinion, that doesn't make it blasphemious.

Nude Tour was one of his best
Purple Rain Tour was his worst pre-Larry Graham era. (His worst song ever, God played every night. Too many creepy/weird Prince monologes, especially during the piano section.)
Moonbeam Levels is nothing special
Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic is a classic
Cat is unattractive and annoying
Renato Neto does not belong in Prince's band
Indigo Nights is a great live album, although nowhere near masterpiece level
Prince was trying WAY too hard with Black Sweat
20Ten is his most consistently great album since Emancipation (and if he didn't release Lotusflow3r/MPLSound and replaced 20Ten's duds (alll the ballads and Laydown) with Lotusflow3r/MPLSound's highlights, it would be his first great album since The Gold Experience, and his first masterpiece since Sign "O" The Times)

Prince wasn't quite as good a live performer pre-1999 Tour (all concerts 1982 onwards without Shelby J, Larry Graham and/or Renato Neto solos are better)
Dez Dickerson is his greatest back-up guitarist

Ok....my turn, here goes:

Prince (1979) is hugely underrated, esp. Bambi - one of his best rock songs.

Purple Rain is overrated and sounds outdated

(I felt that when I first heard it in 1995, that said I had heard most of the hits on 'The Hits 1' so perhaps because I had heard them already, i didn't appreciate the album as much).

1999 is underrated.

SOTT is overrated - again sounds dated. The Black Album is underrated.

Graffiti Bridge is underrated and just as 'spiritual' as Lovesexy.

Best Prince album of the 80's: The Black Album, closely followed by Dirty Mind.

Emancipation was good, and has got better with age.

Lotusflow3r 3cd set was his best work since Emancipation.

TRC would have been good if there was no narration, but because of that I can't really listen to it.

Planet Earth is 1000x better than 3121.

1997-2006 were the 'lost years' without much great stuff being released.

20TEN sucked and should have remained in the vault - sorry folks but there's only one true classic on that and it is 'Act of God'.
