You ain't no fake fan....you are a true fan, True to yourself!

A lot of these other "Real" fans are in fact Flake Fans. Like the Chocolate ready to fall apart at the merist chance of been counterdicted or shown to have a lack of knowledge of the obsession.

and as we all know Obession is dangerous.

A true fan doen't need all of Prince's music even though they might have it, that don't need every boot altough it would be very nice, doesn't need every picture (not my thing) but as long as you enjoy Prince's music along with other artists then you are a true fan!!

I guess most "fans" are just casual fans, like you. Not all of them may come here and post about Prince, but I'm sure the Prince hardcore fanbase is really small compared to the number of people who call themselves fans, but are in fact only casual listeners (compared to other artists, who had a more "seizable" career and less progressive music and style etc).

Fake fans don't like what I say about Prince music. Real fans agree with me. lol

Isn't this how it goes around here? confused

On a side note, I have all Prince CD releases.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I have to admit some things about myself. It's time to get it of my chest and out of the closet.

I don't have the 'purple rain' cd, nor the '1999'. I do have many of his cd's, however I don't know the exact number. I can't shout out the right name of a Prince song when I hear the first tunes. As a matter of fact, I oftentimes love a song, however, don't know the name. I do have some bootlegs, and other 'fan' material.

However, I don't know all his bandmembers by name, not his current, let alone all throughout history.

I went to several concerts, in Holland, Belgium, NY and London.

I do love listening to his music, which I do, 1 or 2 times a week. His voice has a very soothing effect on me. Because, to me, it's so familiar and during endless crises I have listened to his music and heard his voice. His voice has a very strong effect on me.

The same for my cat. My cat loves classical music and Prince. The rest, he can handle with an annoyed look on his face or he walks away, leaving, with a killer look at me, or starts miauwing until I change the music.

I think he's a great musician, and as a human he has flaws. Just like the rest of us.

There. I said it. I'm just a fake fan.

Awww you are missing so much not having 1999...!!! It's a great album and completely different from Prince live.

Shut up already, damn.

I really apreciate you contemplations on it.

And, I will get those missing cd's and enjoy his music. As a non-obsessed fan sort of I guess.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

.....I just don't like the ones who call his music these days is nothing but crap crap crap crap crap again and again. I know they are the ones (well most of them are) who have been his fan for more than a decade and probably a little obsessed with him smile but ugh it's a tough forum for newbies like me who have much love for his recent material or happen to have different taste than the old ones...

one of the reasons I joined this website was to share some thoughts with people who have the same love and admiration for Prince online because most of my friends and people around me in everyday life either don't know him / think he's a wacko / think he just sounds like MJ/ think he's a funny looking midget....and they're not interested in his music at all...It's not like I want all fans to praise him 24/7. They're just like me we all have different taste but ugh sometimes it's just too much insulting...does that make sense nuts I'm bad at explaining

Fake fans wouldn't be posting in forums unless they were trying to taunt Prince fans.

I respect him and his sound is often emulated, and have liked him since about 1986, but I'm a casual fan. I don't feel I need to own all of his albums though I wish to own some of the tours, especially LoveSexy. I don't have all of his albums and he has his share of albums I like, and the ones I didn't care for upon listening. I have:

For You

Prince

1999

Purple Rain

Around the World In a Day

The Hits 1

The Hits 2

Chaos & Disorder

New Power Soul

Musicology

3121

Planning to get Diamonds & Pearls soon, and maybe the one with Pussy Control if I like it.

But don't get me wrong, some songs from the albums I don't have are some of his best ever. These include Alphabet Street, The Greatest Romance Ever Sold, Sign O The Times, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Controversy, Thieves in the Temple

Not every "fan" will have every album (or bootleg) ever put out. The mark of a fan is how much you enjoy that artist's music when you do listen to it. wink

Cats are discerning animals you know, if they don't like it they walk away, mine lays in the room and goes to sleep purring when Prince is playing - actually that is me biggrin .

I listened to Diamonds and several other albums I don't own with fresh ears and I think I'm going to get them soon, albums like Gold Experience, Rave and maybe Lovesexy. My collection feels rather naked, and I do need a fresh change from my usual playlist. I've been listening to funk/rock lately anyways and who's better than Prince?

It’s funny that you ask, I remember asking myself the same question the first time I came here, probably for some of the reasons that you have mentioned and others. I came to a point that it really doesn’t matter nor scale, fan level I am. Did you ever saw Slumdog Millionaire? That made me doubt falloff

I also like Amitabh Bachchan & neko

Yesterday I played lotusflower, he purred and stretched his body, taking up most of the couch relaxing and listening to P. Still funny.

My pussy likes Prince lol
