That is truly a dream team: Prince on guitar, Flea playing bass and Chad on drums. Anthony could sing - even though I'm one of those who think he originally couldn't. But he is a honest working man and always lovely to see. "Don't want excuses, yeah. Write me your poetry in motion."

I still have not found any comments from Prince of RHCP so far, but today when I finally bought my own copy of The Red Hot Chili Peppers: An Oral/Visual History by the Red Hot Chili Peppers I found three references of Prince.
Anthony's friend Keith "Tree" Barry says, that the explicitly sexual lyrics of Dirty Mind made an huge impression on Anthony Kiedis during the high school. Anthony admits that he started to listen to the Clash, Talking Heads, Gangs of Four and Prince under the impression of Dondi Bastone, the son of the Director of Hollywood Actors Theater. In later life, RHCP was very impressed to sign in Warner, because now they were accomppanied with Prince, Talking Heads, Devo, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Jane's Addiction, the Blasters and many more...
Well, now I can reckon, why RHCP has named one Californication song Purple Stain... Actually it has nothing to do with Purple Rain, but it gives a one creative interpretation what Purple Rain could possibly mean.

I remember reading somewhere that Kiedis was invited to Paisley Park to not only listen to a sneak preview of the album, but also to provide said quote. Can't remember where, though. >>
