Prince did perform in Hawaii in 2003. You can find most of his recordings on Amazon as well as Ebay. Check independent record stores also for his CDs and records. wink

Raise two million dollars to cover the costs of setting up a show and paying Prince to play.

First off is there a venue on Kauai that is large enough for a Prince concert? It would have to be comparable to the Blaisdel or Aloha Stadium in size and seating capacity. Without that it wouldn't be profitable for him to come there and play a club sized venue. Too many people to fly over and pay for the work of putting a show together.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Unfortunately, if your local record stores don't stock them and can't/won't get them in (I assume you've tried this?), there aren't a lot of legitimate avenues by which you can get Prince albums these days.

Presumably there are some online record stores that would ship to you (I don't know of any off-hand), but otherwise your options are Amazon, eBay and similar, or else bootlegs, which you've ruled out.

Some albums were never released commercially (ie. they were given away or only sold to NPGMC members for a limited time, etc...), so your options with those are even more limited.

I'm not sure how public radio works regarding copyright and royalties, etc... but I don't think it's simply a case of inventory either. I think you need to get permission or pay something in order to play Prince's music on radio, so it's worth checking that out as well - no doubt the people that run the station will know.

Regarding getting him to play, the key thing (other than the logistics that HonestMan raised) is to get in touch with local promoters - ie. whoever brings other big acts to Kauai - and try to convince them that it's worth approaching Prince to do some shows there.

Presumably he tours wherever someone makes him the best offer.

Good luck!!

Umm...I was hoping to use a smaller venue ~ like 5 nights..I dont know what amount of $ he would come here and do a show? Lots of Stars live here part time and very wealthy peeps..wanted it more intimate..Dont know if P would dig that or ot? I felt he liked smaller venues..peeps partcipating..?

I've been to Kauai many, many times to work and semi-live for months at a time. I don't think there's actually ANY venue on the entire island, from what I recall. Perhaps in one of the resorts on the North/East sides?

And yes, it's very difficult to buy music there, unless it's local stuff, especially since Borders (the only decent store on the entire island) closed up.

Most of the beaches on Kauai aren't very easily accessible for something on this scale.

He has a sound team but needs to get some better peeps if he hasn't already...some recent concerts have had significant sound problems.

It varies, sometimes you read it's 1million, sometimes 2. But not cheaper lol
If you manage to get him for 7 nights in a club, I will certainly be there nod
