Foster the People "Pumped up Kicks" borrows from "Private Joy"

Its been driving me crazy!

This song that is always on the radio: Foster the People's "Pumped up Kicks".

Every the chorus comes on and they go " ALL THE OTHER KIDS with the pumped up kicks"

my head goes right into PRIVATE JOY when Prince goes "ALL THE OTHER KIDS would love to love you, but you're my little private joy".

Nothing else in the songs are similar (at least to me).. BUT I SWEAR, those guys were listening to Private Joy at some point...

because the way they sing "all the other kids" is EXACTLY the way prince sings the same words in private joy.

Well I mean you said it yourself. wink If NOTHING else in the comparison is similar, aside from a (subjective) interpretation of the chorus, then...

That's funny, because both my kids told me that exact line reminds them of the song "Cleveland Rocks" which has a line that says "All the little chicks with the crimson lips".

I heard the song last night, and I'd say it's much closer to "Cleveland Rocks" so I guess Ian Hunter got ripped off/paid homage to.

I fell in love with this song (actually the live version is much better than the studio version) in May and no way does it resemble Private Joy at all.

Sorry but good try...it is a cool song and the albums not bad either.
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.
