Sign. But I think all three of the following albums,The White Album (1968), The Wall (1979), and Sign 'O' The Times (1987) represent the best double albums of each decade. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

very good choices.
The Wall - the ultimate Pink Floyd album for me, excellent - this would be my choice for the best double album of the 1970s too.
I would love to hear Prince perform Hey You or Comfortably Numb. To hear him play those guitar solos would be great.
A bit off topic, sorry Prince 4Ever.

I love songs in the key of life-perhaps better than the wall-but I went with popularity & quality of work. I will amend my statement and put the wall and Stevie Wonder's songs in the key of life at a tie for the 1970's best double album. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

^ OK; I love both too...
but I still prefer THE WALL to the Songs In The Key Of Life album.
The Wall just means a lot more to me. Both the original album, the movie and the soundtrack off the movie.... all excellent.
Only mystery to me is, why "Hey You" never made the movie. Fantastic song. Hey You... Prince 4Ever.

They are equally good and indeed comparible: sprawling double-albums with a broad range of material that somehow 'work'. I always have seen Sign of the Times as Princes' 'one mand band' White album.
But since i grew up with Sign (it was the first album i bought even)..i go with Sign of the Times.
