Yeah, Pope is awful. The rest are good to great.

Pope for definate. shame it left out some great singles.

all of the For You and previously unreleased tracks could have been swapped for real classics like Sexy Dancer, Let's Work, Darling Nikki, DMSR, or full versions of some of the bigger hits.

Pink Cashmere (i know its loved on here, but to me its too formulaic, and too polished, soundwise).

Some more general complaints:

- a bit too many songs from his first 4 albums, a bit too less from 1985 - 1988.

- The fact that the b-sides are the edited ones: for example Shockadelica and Always in my hair are far better in their longer versions.

Do Me Baby (R&B hit by some lady, I don't remember her name...)

deserve to be included because of their popularity

and I'm glad this is the ONLY P compilation with the balls to include EPIC/CLASSIC/CAREER-DEFINING songs like DM, When U Were Mine, Uptown, Head and Controversy

S&W was probably included to give something off each album...

Why U Wanna Treat Me So Bad was not necessary, though...

^Well, none of them were actual hits like "Little Red Corvette" (IWBYL I'm just not a big fan of) while the Parade singles actually made the charts.

I don't object to S&W for that very reason, but there could have been 1 song less from Prince & Dirty Mind still.

yeah, I agree, the title of The Hits is a misnomer

it should have been "Best Of/B-Sides" or "78-93 Anthology/B-Sides"

"Girls and Boys" and "Mountains" were not big hits compared to the "unknown pre-1999" singles you're speaking of.

You don't get to perform on American Bandstand without the song being a crossover hit.

It was edited in 1984. It wasn't edited for this project like "Adore" was.

I hate how WDC is the edited version but "Alphabet St." is not. On the other hand, it deserves credit that the stupid "My Name Is Prince" is absent, unlike on Ultimate...

God also, surely new buyers entranced by 1999, realised that later b sides from this man were not always going to be consistently good as 17 days and erotic city. Its a self indulgent orgasm over himself.

The only thing I don't like about the collection is that there is nothing from Batman. Sure, some songs are better than others but overall it is a pretty amazing collection.
