He won't play stuff from that new CD on the new tour... And he might sell the CD to the newspapers. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I did not say that he would play the new cd did i? He probably will play the greatest hits to get bigger audience.... just mentioned 2 ways for Prince to make money: a tour (obvious) and a cd, distributed one way ore the other.

when is Prince ever gonna get his shit together?? He should be embarrassed by these constant lawsuits.By now,he should know how to do business and take care of his financial matters.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It's news, isn't it? It's not the Org's fault that Prince generates alot of negative news stories. If he would pay his bills and handle his business,we wouldn't see headlines like this.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Thats not the point. At least not MY point. I dont presume to speak for others but nobody says he doesnt generate negative news and nobody thiunks negative news should not be posted. Its that it "appears" that several posotive news items cojuld have been posted and needed toi be complianed about regarding not being god enought to post while the very minute, the first time something negative is reported.."BLAM there it is!" (c)--In Living Color swindlers...it is posted on front opage news item. Dont act like this is some asskisser complaints.

Forgive me if this has already been posted, but I don't remember seeing anything here about a supposed plan for Prince to get Oprah to make it the fuckin' Book of The Month in her book club. That's the DUMBEST request I've ever heard!! Did he REALLY think she was gonna do that for that overblown press junket/portfolio????

Prince Ordered To Pay $4 Million Over Funky SmellAhhh. The smell of celebrity perfume...and the lingering lawsuits that follow. Prince's 3121 scent distributed by Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics left them with a funny smell. So much so they sued the music superstar and Prince is being requested to pay close to $4 million dollars for damages.
Why was Prince requested and not ordered to pay $4 million? Read More>>>>
Another judge will have to approve that Revelations is due the $4 Million. They were trying to sue for another $3 million on top of that but won't get it. The company says that Prince did not follow through with promotional appearances on Oprah, or other avenues to advertise the cologne/perfume for them. He wouldn't even give them a new photo of himself they claimed. We remember Prince spraying the perfume for fans to smell at his 3121 club in Las Vegas at the time and....it didn't go over too well. I remember when we got a few bottles, we sprayed it on each other and the scent would change. Granted, the scent was still something my grandmother would wear over myself. A friend of mine wears it to strip clubs and says the dancers like it. I'm sure it is because every other customer wears Drakkar instead and they liked the change. A little inside information that I am aware of and that I want to pass on; Prince wanted to do Oprah in 2008 to promote a book he put out called 21 Nights and would talk about the perfume for a minute or two. Prince was hoping that the book could be part of Oprah's Book Book Club, but was denied. If I remember correctly, Oprah did want him on her show, just not at that time. Aside from 3 shows he did in Minneapolis on 7-7-07 and a feature on Entertainment Tonight, there was not really much promotion for the 3121 perfume. 3121 the music. A great CD. 3121 the perfume? Well, the CD is great.
It just goes to show, even if you are rock royalty, not everything comes up smelling like purple roses.-Dr.FB

For once, I'm gonna go a bit against Prince, and say this time he should pay. He made a commitment then backed out of it, this is something that cost the company alot of money. The charges are a bit much though perhaps. IDK, the perfume did come out he just didn't promote it. Which he should have, would've been a nice addition to his purple collection of gold. I personally like it just fine. Prince doesn't realize how cool it is to have his memorabilia for the fans. This should have been a top agenda of his at the time. Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

I never thought I would live to see that happening.

Just out of curiosity....what are the "positive news items" that should have been posted? It seems to me that every piece of relevent Prince news, good or bad,is discussed here.No one is "censoring" the good news about Prince.
... [Edited 9/7/11 4:54am]

Yeah, because if and when he were to do something newsworthy that was positive, I'm sure it would get on the front page. But exactly how often does he have positive "newsworthy" shit? And I'm not talking about an ordinary concert being scheduled, either.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I accept that it's considered somewhat of a crazy notion on this site, but in lots of other fan communities, they like to publicise "ordinary concerts" being scheduled - amazingly, to fans of Prince's music, that's often considered news (particularly those who live nearby).
There have definitely been a couple of more positive/neutral/interesting news items posted recently, so its fast becoming a moot point IMO and yay for that, but to suggest that a musician losing a legal battle over perfume is more newsworthy on any sort of fan site/community/whatever than said musician scheduling a concert seems pretty wacky to me.
To mock even the possibility of such a viewpoint seems ludicrous.

A headline of a positive concert REVIEW would be nice. Hell, they already made a headline of the negative reception in Germany so why not the other way around for a positive review in Hop Farm?
I'll wait... | |

Based upon what I have read and Princes knee jerk reaction history to almost any scenario that he's obligated to is to quit. Then it should come at no surprise that he would be sued. I recall watching a show about MTV that cited the most difficult person they worked with was Prince. The under the cherry moon promo in Wyoming almost cancelled because prince refused to proceed to meet the winner. This was in the limo on the airstrip. My only question is how the could be awarded 4 million. They would have to prove the potential dollar amount they lost. But with no previous criteria to support this (get wild was a previous perfume failure) I don't see how the judge or magistrate would rule this type of restitution.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Prince has a long history of signing deals then backing out of them.In early 1989,he wanted to cancel the already scheduled Lovesexy shows in Japan, until his managers informed him that the venues would sue him for millions and millions of dollars. He lives in his own world where only his rules apply.People need to realize this before they decide to do business with him.

At what point will Prince wake up and stop commiting 2 deals that he has no intention of completing?

I agree, but those same people probably get all star struck and shit, thinking, "Ooo, I get the chance to work with Prince! Yes I'll do it!!!" And then they get hit with non-fuckin' payment!
SA, if you made, say, some jewelry that Prince liked and wanted custom made for him and his band for a tour or video or something (and you always thought it was cool to be able to "work for Prince"), would you have some contract put together to say you need 100% payment upfront or something, knowing that might piss him off and possibly cause him to say "Forget it"? Lol! Just curious.

It makes it seem like other companies etc have no business sense. I mean reack record and all, and just everyday normal business savy. "Climb in my fur."

Actually if Prince does what he commits 2...............there should not be a problem. He get's paid....and then does something close 2 NOTHING.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Agreed.
But I question any business in todays time not to have shit set up where they are paid accordingly somehow someway to prevent themselves getting stiffed lol. Im not saying that if they don't, they should be getting got..no no..Im just wondering in this day and age, if you are going to tussle with a huge entity (in this case a rich pop star), why not have your shit covered? Especially with a public track record of late that says be wary. "Climb in my fur."

"UPDATE: We have been contacted by a source stating that the contract was for a "reasonable" fulfillment. Prince promised 2 things to Revelations; a show for Macy's and to be on a talk show. The talk show that Prince wanted to do could not accommodate him so that was out of his control. The attorneys are losing the case due to negligence.
We are being told the fact is that Revelations did not know how to handle an A list celebrity. They did not have the skills or clout and the know how to put the product out. They are a very small company that misjudged the costs involved. They were in the red and expected Prince to bail them out when they were 1 million in the hole."
If this is true...then why would a judge order Prince to pay?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
He defaulted. He had the opportunity to come and contest the lawsuit, but instead he failed to pay his lawyers and didn't show up to defend his case. So he lost his chance to argue that the allegations of Revelations are false. His new lawyers are just trying to get the amount of damages reduced. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Because he saw through Prince's bullshit.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
So Prince not being available to defend HIMSELF cost him.
I remember TRYING to buy this perfume when it came out. Its was to be sold EXCLUSIVELY in Macy's. Well Macy's only had it available is a few stores since they believed Prince's brand wouldn't generate any interest.
I tried to get the bottle in my area, the northeast USA and it wasn't available up here. I was told be an employee of Macy's that "We won't sell that cheap mess here. We prefer to sell our customers oils by designers with quality oils from France."
So the Revelation company should have sued Macy's for not promoting the product also. Half the stores I called never even wanted to sell me their "exclusive" product. After contacting six stores, I finally found the product sold in the Chicago store, they refused to ship it to me.
So I said fuck it... called the Revelation company directly, let the representative know of the many hurdles I came across at just trying to buy a bottle. He apologized but told me that the perfume would be on back order because they were currently overwhelmed with the success and demand for the product.
So if you can't buy the perfume... how are you supposed to get it? By the time the perfume became available to buy online.... I lost total interest. Prince got into business with a mickey mouse bullshit company and Macy's, a department store that has the lousiest customer service ever.
Prince is only part to blame at best... I think Macy's hands are just as dirty for not pushing its own "exclusive" product.
Why Prince did not have a rep in court for him I'll never know.

do we all agree that Prince needs to stay out of the perfume business? His Get Wild perfume from the mid-90s wasn't really a successful venture, either.Jackie Collins (famous author and sister of actress Joan Collins) sued him for stealing that idea from her! Stick with music,Prince!

no..he just needs the right set up "Climb in my fur."

The problem is,even if he had the "right set up",he would still screw it up somehow because he only follows his own rules. He lives in his own Princely world.
