Of course this makes the front page of a fan site. Barely anything positive about Prince gets a headline on a website dedicated to him. It's so stupid. It's the reason why I'm losing respect for this site and the people that run it. This site hardly has changed in years, the layouts stays the same, but when Prince has another lawsuit on him. A NEW FUCKING HEADLINE! It's bullshit.

Personally, I don't care about the whole thing. It's not my life, it's his problem and it's out of my hands. Of course people are going to go out of their way to call Prince an "idiot" and tell him "what he needs to do". I'm not his buisness partner, I'm a fan and all I can do is support him by wishing him the best. I hope everything works out with Prince.

You act like they shouldnt post news if its negative, which is bullshit. There is no other Prince news out and this is something major. Even if he had released 6 different albums, remasters, and announced a worldwide tour all on the same day THIS SHOULD BE ON THE HEADLINES WITH THEM. No one is out to get Prince, get it through your thick skull, and if Princes does things that fans think are stupid then why shouldnt they say "dude, that shit was dumb as heeeeeeell". Also I'm glad you arent running this site otherwise it would probably become just the mindless hell hole that is MJJC.

Hate to see it happen. I notice Prince has gotten a LOT of lawsuits in the last couple years.

That's what you get when you don't pay your bills, or don't hold your end of a business agreement. Got nothing to do with racism...

Nothing to do with racism but a lot to do with the Black Messiah complex.

Oh really? Tell me why the fuck they didn't announce Prince coming to Brazil but when he cancels it, it gets a headline knowing more than a hundred people would complain about not being able to see Prince (a really stupid one, at that), knowing that people would call him an asshole. That's a whole different topic because that's understandable. THIS isn't our buisness.

I don't mind negative news, but there are positive and intriguing news on different Prince sites that I don't find here. Why is that? If there were a balance with the two, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but since there isn't, I'm going to say something about it.

Funny how you would consider my idea of a great website to be a mindless hell hole. Maybe if I launched a website of your favorite artist and only wrote headlines that are mostly negative, then you'd sign up and talk trash to other people that have an issue with it there.

By the way, don't call me a thick skull when you're the one making assumptions that are nowhere in my post. It makes you look like foolish one. Read carefully through my post and maybe you'd get an idea of what I'm talking about, maybe you wouldn't talk so much shit.

Do you have some positive news to share? There's no new album out--in fact he stated he's in studio rehab. No remasters, of course. The tour seems to be over, or at least on hold. When there is good news to share, I always see it on the front page. Right now there seems to be nothing going on but lawsuits and cancelled concerts.

I look at fans who think these type so headlines are negative as insane people out of touch with reality.

It's like people who weren't convinced that there were WMDs leading up to the Iraq war being branded liberal by dei-hard neo-cons. There were NO WMDs--a conservative in their right mind should have acknowledged this.

Prince has absolutely no professionalism when it comes to holding his end of any business bargain. The guy is impulsive and just plain rude to his business partners and fans.

And that's rock-n-roll, isn't it? But, Prince isn't just rock and roll. He chose to be an indie artist, making him a manager, promoter, and singer. Can we think of any Indie artist, other than Prince, who has such a shitty record for dealing with business partners and fans. Would Ani DeFranco, Amy Mann, Radiohead, Natalie Merchant or NIN do these things?

It's perfectly fair to post such headlines. If the prince camp (or fanbase) doesn't like these, start your own webpage. I would love to see you leave and do that.

Surely it could be considered negative Prince news, as distinct from the suggestion that it is somehow wrong or unjust. It's hardly happy news (except for the perfume company, of course), so I guess it comes down to how you define 'negative' in this context.

I do find it a bit much that it ends up on the front page AND becomes a sticky, as if it's the most important thing that's happened in Princeland for months.

The balance is what some of us have had a problem with. The US concerts were announced, as was Hop Farm and the North Sea Jazz Festival - all good - but there were 30 or so concerts in Europe over their summer and most of them were never announced on the front page (thus hitting people's RSS feeds, etc...)

Ok, so it could be argued that not every one can be news (not sure why, but fine), but then the moment there's a problem, that hits the headlines like lightning. The Cologne concert was never announced via the front page, but when the sound went wrong, it was up there straight away. Same with Brazil being cancelled.

In the concert section, there have been links to several newspaper articles about Prince while he's been touring, but they're obviously not news (although those could well be examples of people not submitting news, which is another problem).

But Prince's financial situation apparently is.

I appreciate that this site is a huge pain to manage, and currently is being managed by something like two or three very patient mods, so I'm loathe to say much, but I do believe that negativity breeds negativity, meaning that this place is a veritable breeding ground for what seem to become really extreme viewpoints - first, those that end up being overly critical, bitter and mean towards Prince, followed by those that become serial defenders in an - albeit futile - effort to counterbalance. Of course, then they trot out the tired "hater" spiels and suddenly become overly critical, bitter and mean towards the posters that attack Prince. And so the wheel turns...

I've thought many times about what it would take to create a site from scratch and whether opinions would be less vicious without the history and structure of the org which fosters rather than discourages such attitudes, but there's a boatload of problems with that, not the least of which is that I genuinely appreciate a lot of the posters who are branded as 'haters' and they would be sorely missed on a different board.

If they could be convinced to play in a different space, however, I'd be curious to see whether or not the tone of their posts would be somewhat more muted.

Of course, I could be wrong lol

I don't think it's that hard to figure out the reason for this. When Prince announces a concert in a particular city, that's great news for fans who live there or could travel there. But most of his fans don't care because they can't go to the concert. On the other hand, when Prince cancels a concert, anywhere in the world, lots of us get interested because it gives us an opportunity to vent about the various grievances we have against him (or to vent about the various grievances some have about the people who have grievances against him, or whatever).

It would indeed be good to have a website that would make every Prince concert front-page news. That's why most artists have official websites to broadcast that kind of information. Setting that aside, however, there are other unofficial Prince websites out there (e.g., www.moquake.com) and there's nothing to stop anyone on here from starting their own.

Points taken, but this is really what I'm talking about when I say that negativity breeds negativity.

If the front page was constantly reporting news of new concerts, articles about Prince touring, etc... then people get that sense of excitement, even if it's not near them. Particularly thinking about those poeple who don't visit the org very often, but who subscribe to the news. They may have a picture in their heads of Prince only having done a handful of concerts this year, but they're up to date with all the legal troubles, etc...

Yes, the cancellation news gives people another opportunity to vent. But venting only gets you so far. At some point, there is value in letting something go and moving on, so I don't agree that a site should be promoting cancellations ahead of scheduled concerts on the basis that it gives the greater fan base an opportunity to vent past grievances as opposed to being kept abreast of touring news. Apart from anything else, it becomes viciously contagious and suddenly people who have never bought a ticket to a Prince concert that's been cancelled, let alone made travel plans, etc... are suddenly screaming and venting about it. And, as you say, then it opens the door for those who have issues with the people complaining and what do you get? More negativity.

Agreed about the websites, and I really wish Prince would consider just a simple official website that's just for news and possibly even - shock, horror! - buying his music. No membership, no bells or whistles or ridiculously complex graphics - just something like 3121.com again so that the burden of reporting Prince news doesn't fall to the fansites (funny that fansites would see that as a burden, but c'est la vie).

Of course there are other sites and they have merit and yes, anyone could start their own, but, to the org's credit, they have developed a rich and varied membership base with a wealth of knowledge therein and it would take a new site a very long time to become established enough to offer visitors anything like what's offered here.

Granted, if someone has the time and the patience - and done properly (therein lies the rub) - it could eventually be worth the effort.

I guess I don't have an objective perspective because I was a ticketholder for the Dallas concert. When I see news about Prince giving wonderful concerts in other cities, it doesn't fill me with excitement, but rather a bit of jealousy. Same thing when I get Facebook updates from friends seeing the shows in other cities. On the other hand, when I read about lawsuits filed against him, bills not paid, etc., that actually comes as happy news in a weird way, because the only way I can see him ever releasing deluxe remasters, more stuff from the vault, etc., during his lifetime is if he gets into a dire financial situation. I know that sounds perverse but it's how I feel. Ultimately I don't want things to turn out badly for Prince--if he ever gets his act together and puts out some great deluxe editions of the albums I love, I'll be one of his best customers.

Moquake.com has been around for at least a year now. I don't spend much time on there, but the vibe seems less negative with respect to Prince, and I have seen several posts criticizing the org for being too negative. So if people are really fed up with this site, they could go congregate at moquake. I think this place (the org) is actually pretty balanced given the way Prince acts. But if I didn't like the site I wouldn't try to change it. I'd just go hang out somewhere else. After all, I didn't pay anything to join here.

I understand your viewpoint and, much as I wish a happier outlook for you, I respect your right to feel that way - and to express it.

Personally I just don't think that a site should cultivate that amongst its members, any more than it should cultivate the attitude that Prince can do no wrong, etc... If people feel that way AND express their thoughts, that's all good, but if the org was only posting/highlighting happy purple news that would arguably be just as imbalanced.

Moquake.com has been around for at least a year now. I might have this wrong, but I thought that moquake had been around quite a bit longer than a year, and was sort of housequake reborn - though, with everything that went down with HQ it never really materialised as such. Could have that totally confused though.

I still prefer the org over all other fansites that I've encountered (granted, I haven't discovered many), mainly because of the members and the level of activity. Perhaps I should commit to helping build up another community that prescribes more to the idea of taking a positive approach, but right now I'm here and I would like to think that people with issues with this place can express them, rather than just being told something akin to "like it or lump it", just like I refrain from comments like, "If you hate Prince so much, why do you hang around a fansite dedicated to him?" because I realise it's just not that straightforward.

Anyways, I don't know why he even agreed to do it in the first place. Typical for Prince to make a bad business decision. I remember reading about this supposed perfume when 3121 was coming out lol

Prince does need to pay! I mean he has the money! lol I know he made a killing from all the tours he has been within this past year. I don't know if the lawsuit is worthy of a fight??? BUT I know that if Prince is accountable (Which documents show he is in some degree) HE NEEDS TO PAY! Just give the 4 millions dollars or whatever is due; because that is what responsibility is all about. He would be the first to sue if someone did not pay him. Haha..Same goes for someone else; who he has not yielded their proper share.

I love Prince, and I am not a hater, but I am also one to believe in R E S P O N S I B L I T Y ! Haha, as I said; this should be no problem--He HAS Money! TRUST ME ON THAT ONE! Just look at him his band, and his stage. (Even if he is not as rich as he was at one time, I know he is not suffering in his finances...I know he ain't broke! 4 Million might be like 4,000 to him, or less. It should be no problem to just say..."HERE; sorry for the mix up".

Apparently it was supposed to be "a sexy scent," "Xquisite, Mysterious, Xotic," that smells like a "kaleidoscope of rich florals."

Exactly that , the body creme too

Any insights in his financial situation?

I mean: any 2010 deficits or surplus? (royalties, recordsales, merchandising...)

2011 earnings?

Litigation cost?

Then we could really conclude if a new tour is around the corner...

Very well said. This isn't an official Prince site, where censorship & ignorance of reality is the norm. While the sycophants & zealots do find their way here, they have to deal with facts from time to time, many of which don't cast Prince in the most flattering light.

Good grief...it's already made news on the Australian Herald Sun news website.

In spite of my feelings on the matter, I had to giggle at the last line...

The amount is how much the company said it shelled out to make the "xotic" and "xquisite" fragrances before Prince's indifference resulted in the product going down the eau de toilette.

Prince's new lawyer, Mr. Novikoff, entered the case shortly before a hearing on damages started on May 5, 2011.

What happened to Llondell?

In other news, 3 to 4 months into the future:

Prince failed to pay for losing a court case over him not promoting a perfume.

(because he did not pay immediately for Croke Park, his lawyer, etc)

My olfactory senses detected a tasteful mix of decrepit mortuary and octogenarian Sasquatch vagina.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Londell has been gone a couple of years, IIRC. Since then Prince has had a couple of lawyers, and at least one of them sued him: http://www.cbsnews.com/83...04083.html

On a related note: you might wanna read this: http://prince.org/wiki/Th...1994_Deal where you learn when Londell entered Prince's life and why.

More about Londell: http://www.superlawyers.c...dcf76.html

Seems a couple of months ago Prince's lawyer was Howard King.

^ Thanks.

I always thought Llondell was one of Prince's closest associates so I'm suprised he no longer works for him. He was also involved in dealing with MJ's estate too from what I've read....did he resign or did Prince ask him to leave do you know?

Wow, somebody ACTUALLY agreed with ManlyMoose.

If it really were "well said", it would be better if people got their so called "point" across without being asses to people.

Just saying.

I think that newer members don't realize and older members forget that the site owner has said on several occasions that the org is NOT dedicated to Prince and wasn't created in his honor.

The org is about the diversity of the fan community and always has been.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.
