Could this be the greatest ever Prince and the Revolution Recording?

Something In The Water Does Not Compute, The Birthday Show 1984....

Christ, I must of listened to this about 500 times. A band at the peak of their powers cool

I've heard every recorded configuration of this tune, and i love them all, but still.... this, this fucker is just otherworldly.

What say you? smile

I really dig that version of the song... "Greatest Recording Ever" is waaay too subjective... But it's one of the great ones...

True enough. The greatest ever is subjective and was not my intention. It's also a modal verb which may suggest the possibilty razz Of course it's not.

Or is it razz

Don't mind me. I've had a few. cool

I cant hate on the premise. At least the ealier in the day warehouse rehearsal of it. The greatest thing he's done imo.

Yeah, his guitar on this song during the rehearsal was fucking EPIC!!!! Even surpasses the highly popular solo of Just My Imagination from Small Club, IMO.

Though I love that JMI solo with all my being, I cant argue against this either. When I first heard it it blew my mnd and stil does. A damn near 10 minute guitar solo thats undescribable to me. I literally feel spent after the song is threw. It has so much tension to it I feel like when it's over, Im in a penis refractory period. Why he did not do this on the 1999 tour is one of the Prine decisions that baffels me. I hope to god the birthday show video shows up one day. At least the Warehouse documentation of this is out there but I want pristine quality of it.
