Prince "jumped the shark" when he became symbol according to Stern and the guy who runs that site. They also said after Purple Rain he JTS as far as movies.

Someone coined it as reference to when Fonzie ran his motorcycle over the shark tank as the moment happy days went to shit. But, now it gets used as the moment whatever star, show, or movie lost it's center

"JUMP THE SHARK", is the phrase given to something that has hit its top of its career. Then a terrible decision has been made to change that and since then, it has been down hill and unbelievable.

The Happy Days episode when the whole group went down to-I think Florida ( south), and had an episode where Fonzy was skiing and had his lether jacket and boots on and had to jump over a shark on water. Really fake and that was when Happy Days went down hill.
